Help installing a light in a brass steam engine headlight

I could use a few pointers on installing a light (led or bulb) into a brass steam engine headlight.  The light will be controlled by a TCS decoder, so a led or bulb can be accounted for by CV's.  I need to drill one or two small holes for the wire, thus the problem.  How do I detach the headlight assembly from the boiler in order to drill the holes.

re-boxing locos

Most steam engines come in boxes with the loco and tender separate. Most in a foam and cutout. And a simple plastic wrap. But that requires keeping them unplugged. I would like to be able to box my locos with them permanently plugged together. Minimum handling and simply placed in a box. I've noticed some mention of not using plastic. So what is best, or better? How about parchment paper? Is it better to use genuine Saran wrap? I prefer something cheap, normally around the house, and not have to purchase through Amazon to get some "specific" thing.

Please help identify these locos

Hey folks. We acquired a whole bunch of trains and I'm having a difficult time identifying these two engines. Please be gentle, I'm just learning.

As you can see, Loco #1 is hollow inside and has a "2" cast into it. It is 6-1/8" long.

Loco #2 is solid on the front half and weighs just under 1.5lb and is 6-3/8" long.

Thank you in advance for helping a newby learn the ropes.

thinner for Rapido Proto-Paint?

Has anyone come up with a thinner suitable for Proto-Paint?  I've had really bad luck using either an Iwata  double-action or an old single-action Paasche airbrush.

Athearn Genesis Parts,.....(fuel tank molding)

Has anyone had experiences trying to get parts for an Athearn Genesis engine?

I recently purchased online a Genesis FP45 diesel loco in HO scale. The seller failed to tell me it was missing the fuel tank molding. Can I get one?

Fairbanks Morse TrainMaster sounds?

I am working on an N&W Trainmaster, and I'm intending to equip it with sound. I have very little personal memory of them (about ten minutes at a distance in the early 1970s), and of course I've never heard any of the modern decoders. Are any of the FM sounds materially better than others? SoundTraxx? ESU? TCS? (Someone else??)

Sound decoders for UP gas turbines

I recently acquired one of the Union Pacific "big blow" gas turbine models imported by Overland Models in the 1990s and I wanted to ask for advice on how best to configure it for DCC sound.

I understand the real locos had the turbine in the B unit and a conventional prime mover in the lead unit.

Passenger Car Detail Help - Modeling a Business Car

I'm beginning a new project of modeling a L&NE business car, No. 100.  My problem is that I'm not familiar with passenger car details and appliances - so I'm trying to learn all about passenger car roof and underbody details.  I'm not going for a rivet counting model, but want something that looks pretty close.

I've cropped a few photos of details from the roof . . . the left rear (I may have incorrectly identified the sides).
