BL2 Single headlight

Custom Finishing used to make a single headlight conversion piece for the Proto 2000 BL2. As the headlight housing is a bit unusual and therefore a real challenge to make so I'm trying to locate some of these pieces, alas so far with no luck, by memory it was part #CF210. I would really appreciate any help in locating some ...thanks and Merry Christmas!

Steam Locomotive Lore

There has been some interest in steam locomotives in the "Battery Powered Engine" thread.  To carry this on, this thread will be a discussion of steam locomotive operation and how it applies to model railroading.

Tandem running on DC?

I have two HO mP54 powered interurban passenger cars by Con-Cor, both DC powered.

If I run them in tandem what happens?

Each alone runs at a considerably different speed at the same throttle setting when run alone or both on the same track but not coupled. So I assume when connected in tandem one is pushing or pulling the other.

Is there any damage that will be done to the motors if operated this way?

My throttle is a pulse width modulated DC power source.

Minimum Radius for Bachmann 44 tonner?

Does anyone know what the minimum practical radius for the Bachmann 44 tonner in HO scale is?  I plan on using it as a base for several different things--and some traction boxcabs could take tight curves.

When did CN start using the "www.cna" logo on their locomotives and rolling stock?

When did CN start using the "www.cna"  logo on their locomotives and rolling stock? Can anyone answer this please? I am looking to date my railroad more precisely and this is one of the constraints I will have to deal with?  Thanks for any help all.

A modern RS-3 ???

Hey Gang,

If you saw my recent post under DCC regarding cheap decoders, you know that I found a brand new MRC sound decoder at a swap meet for $15. How can I refuse to buy one at that price? Well, you know how those deals are always too good to be true? Yep, I had to buy an RS3 to put it in because the decoder is programmed for an ALCO 244 which only went in RS-3 and FA/FBs. While this sounds like a hardship, I always have a soft spot for the distinct gurgle produced by the ALCOs. So, I am really okay with this...

Overcoming modeling problems this weekend

Forward the project.  Two sticking points were overcome this weekend!

Sticking point number 1 - holding up tables in the custom built observation car interior.  The new method worked!  and sticking point number 2 - found the macro setting on my digital camera. But I cheated - looked it up in the manual.

So, while the observation car interior is not complete, 6 tables were installed this weekend and these were the hard ones.

5 coach interiors are now complete, photographed and installed - including the kitbashed one:

Need help selecting an N scale box car...

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I'm pursuing a project to make my own N scale box car with DCC uncoupling capabilities. So I've got this grand idea that I think will work great! And if it does, I'll write a blog about it. But in the mean time, I need the right car to work on to make it work.

Intermountain GP10 rebuild (Paducah geep)

Intermountain has announced plans to produce a HO GP10 (Paducah geep) these units were built from GP 7's, GP 9's and GP 18's. they are looking for road names and info on the various moedels built. One idea would be to offer the units built ready to roll with no lettering. Offer them in several colors Red, yellow, blue, green and black, similar to what Bachman has done with thier switchers (70ton, 45 ton etc), this way freelance railroads, club layouts, short lines etc could then be decaled by the purchurser. The GP10 could be justified on just about any diesel layout.
