I don't get it

Sorry to kill the party - I don't get it.  This thing would take a ton of utility power to recharge and that has to come from some where....

@ PAPat

I was wondering how far we had to get into the thread before somebody caught on. Not bad, third post.

I was thinking the same thing when I saw that. How about the 1,080 "LEAD ACID" batteries. Multiply that times the number of engines and you have a lead problem when the batteries are no longer usable.

No body ever follows the "electrons" back to there source. They think because you have zero emissions of a vehicle that it's environmentally friendly.

So how many wind turbines does it take to charge one NS battery powered engine?

Maybe NS grew tired of constantly cleaning the rails? smiley

That was Ken Rickman's job. He has a fiber board cleaner car behind the engine. wink But since the coal industry is being shut down NS doesn't need Ken to do that any more. I hear NS is buying wind turbines to charge their engines! surprise

Speaking of wind turbines

Here you go guys. Charge your battery power engines with a wind turbine farm. Scale doesn't matter.

Only $189.95 for a quantity of 3. I think coal power is cheaper at 22¢ a pound.

I heard they were reducing

I heard they were reducing the pay of the engineers, forcing them to eat beans, and using the methane to power their locos. wink

It's Appy, I'm happy!

Electricity for free...

Here you go guys. Charge your battery power engines with a wind turbine farm. Scale doesn't matter

If you locate them near the dispatcher, you could probably run all your electric stuff for free...

Thanks Bernd...

I thought I was taking a risk with my original post - but threw caution to the wind, lol...
