What would be the best way to weather a black heavy flat car with a plastic metal deck?

DCC readiness

Hi Gang,

I am contemplating investing in an Athern RTR GP38-2, the CSX #2559.

I am wondering weather or not this unit is DCC ready and if so, what decoder to choose for it - I prefer a drop-in sound decoder, but beggars can't be choosers...

Thankyou for your time,

Martin

Has anyone experienced replacing a fried motor on an Atlas N Scale GP 40 ? Getting a hold of Atlas is ridiculous. Any info will be appreciated.

Roundhouse Boxcab Conversion.

Each week I check in on a couple of blogs like Thunder Mesa Mining, Stockton and Copperopolis, and Wreckers Reef.  Frank Palmer (Wreckers Reef) bought a Roundhouse Boxcab only to be very disappointed.  He was going to throw it in the junk box when one of the readers posted a link to a MRH members blog on how to make it run better.  Turns out it is GearedSteam's own blog.  So, I post the same link here for those who finally want to tackle this project.  There is a video with sound too.

Neodymium magnets for uncoupling?

Does anyone have experiences with neodymium magnets in the roadbed for uncoupling Kadees? Occasionally they are called super magnets.

I know some people swear by using bamboo pics but my hands are not steady enough.

Thanks

Doug

Freight car Data markings.

When did data markings such as capacity, empty weight, etc... Become maditory of freight cars?

Im adding decals to some late 1890-1910 wood box cars and from the photos I can find online, it seams some cars had markings others did not.

Gluing side frames?

Hey guys I am trying to make a Bachmann 45tonner into an HOn3 loco.  I have succeeded in cutting and dissecting the trucks to the point I can reassemble them with the reguaged wheels and make the thing run.  However......I cant get the plastic that they use to glue together.  They use this stuff on every side frame in the hobby.  MEK does not work, JB Weld, super glue ect.....   So how can one bond this stuff?  There has to be a way.  I have a functional truck modified and ready to go.  It holds with super glue  and will work untill you stre

I hope its 24 carat, or brass at the very least!
