Kadee/ Micro Trains Couplers

Can anyone recommend which couplers to put on N-scale locomotives?  I've copied down some model numbers from the Micro-Trains site, but that site doesn't specifically cover all locomotives, such as Kato SD40s.  It only covers Kato SD45s.  I was thinking the the SD45 couplers could be used on SD40s.   I thought I read in a magazine where some modelr purt Kadee 1016 couplers on all his locomotives (where he had to convert couplers).  Does anyone have any opinions on this topic?  Thanks in advance.

Anybody had etchings made?

I throw this out there even though I've seen Rob Teed noted a system to etch circuit boards. Hawaii is a hard place to get enchant or actually chemicals of any kind.

Below is a guardrail detail from the Private car of the Oahu Railway and Land Company built for the creator B.F. Dillingham. Are there companies that can reproduce this from a scale drawing or would you attempt it at home?

Remotoring an Athearn BB GP9

I have an old Athearn GP9 that is dear to my heart. I went to put DCC in it and discovered there is a problem with the motor. I need to remotor it and was pretty much set on the A-Line remotor kit when I came across the MicroMark motor with universals. I am looking for anyone who has used this MicroMark one and what their opinions are on it. Should I spend the extra on the A-Line kit?

What to do.....

I am freelancing a shortline that went under in the 80's. I would like to paint some of my motive power in my own paint scheme, but I do not own an airbrush, nor do I know how to use one. I am also on a tight budget and I doubt I can afford to have someone else do the work for me. I thought about choosing a very simple scheme (1 color) and doing the job with rattle cans, but I don't know how good it would look. Does anyone have any suggestions or maybe a rattle can technique that will look good?

Atlas Gold Series RS-3 Opinions

For some reason, I really desire an RS-3 in CN green and yellow.

I have a Bachmann GP-9 that I really like (after I put in a TCS DP2X). When I got it was a toss between that one and the RS-3. I have been bitten by the sound bugs and really want to hear that Alco sound.

I have searched, but have not found much reviews on the Atlas RS-3 Gold series (LokSound) and was wondering if anyone had experience with one and what their thoughts / opinions were.

Bowser C636 - surprised nobody has mentioned it here

I am surprised that nobody has posted anything about the new Bowser C636's and their attendant issues. Some other forums have literally exploded with comments about them. Here is my experience with the one I received last week:

SP Daylight GS4, BLI vs MTH ?

I recently purchased an MTH 8 car SP daylight passenger car set as it was being sold way below MSRP.

the cars are absolutely stunning with detail and interior lights. I plan to buy a few more cars to get it up to a 11 or 12 car passenger train.  Now I need a Steam loco able to pull it!

Been looking at BLI and MTH as they both offer up a GS4 in the SP colors

Can someone please help me with a cv setting

I have two E6 locos that I run back to back both are set to the same address. Im trying to disable the rear locos mars light so that it will not come on at all. The forward locos mars light will remain normal with F7 turning it on and off at my discretion. hope this is an option ?

AIMX rolling stock

I say some cars today with AIMX 14000-14030 range today.

Very fresh paint maybe 1 week old. It had a fresh gloss oil paint look.

How do these things get unloaded?
