Locos and rolling stock

ScaleTrains.com Chessie System Boxcar

This is one of the new ScaleTrains.com boxcar kits. I added COTS and ACI to the car to improve its appearance. Overall I'm pleased with the boxcar but it would have been nice to have COTS labels on it to start with considering its 1974 build date.

BLI Website Pictues An "Unpainted" Diesel Engine Without Detail Parts ???

Do any unpainted/undecorated HO diesel locomotives come without the detail parts unattached? So that .... you can attach them yourself after you paint and decal the engine?

I didn't think so until I saw this unpainted PARAGON3 SD7 on their website.

I'm a novice who is interested in painting some engines into my own fictitious railroad paint scheme. Having all the details off would make it so much easier for me.

Thanks

Jim

Replace motor in MDC 4-6-0

Need suggestion for type/supplier for motor replacement in MDC 4-6-0 (450 series). Kit has original (open frame) motor, but would like a better-working can motor.

Fiberglass vs. Stamped Steel Grain Hopper Hatches

Does anyone have info on what material a particular hatch type on a covered hopper is made of, and how to identify such hatch covers from each other.  From what I understand there are both fiberglass and stamped steel covers.  I'm interested to know because it would make for an interesting weathering feature.  Fiberglass hatches would not rust, but stamped steel ones would.  Also when did they start applying fiberglass hatch covers?

Thanks for any info.

Advertising Car for coutry fair--boxing troupe

In times long past, circuses and other traveling shows had special railroad cars that transported the people and goods; there was no other practical way for them to travel.  Many country fairgrounds also had their own railroad spurs, where exhibits could arrive and train cars could be parked.  I want to model one.

Convert Atlas RS1 to DCC?

Hello everyone, I am an O scale guy (2 rail) but I am considering building a small switching layout in HO. I haven't been into HO since the late '80s and early '90s.

Powering a Lindbergh (Hawk) San Francisco Cable Car.

The NMRA Indian Nations Division (Tulsa OK) is having a module competition this year. The module must be no more than 576 square inches and have a working rail vehicle.

I have a couple of the old Lindbergh (Hawk) San Francisco cable car kits and have decide to build a 6" by *' module depicting a scene for these cars. I will probably use this as an excuse to try the Arduino PC's to control it.

Need Poultry Car plans

Does any one have the plans for Ambroid's "ONE OF FIVE THOUSAND"  live Poultry car? It was #10 in the series. The car had a open mesh chicken coop on one end and the other end was feed and water. In the middle was a small area for the man to ride in who tended the chickens in route.I'm going to sell the car if I can get a set of plans. Thanks , Blayne

Which MV lense to use?

Is there an MV lense suitable for HO steam classification lights like the Cal-Scale 280?

Thanks!
