Side dump hopper bottom ore cars

Does anyone know a good source for side dump hopper bottom ore cars that would have been manufactured by the Pressed Steel Car Company in the early 1900's?  I am modeling the Verde Tunnel and Smelter RR in my home town of Clarkdale AZ, which has several PSCC side dump hopper bottom ore cars ranging from 50, 60 and 70 ton capacity cars.

Railbox Yellow

What is a good method to fade Railbox Yellow?

Transition era--horn hook to knuckle couplers?

Does anyone know whan knuckle couplers started to show up in HO scale, and how long the transition era was from horn hook to knuckle couplers?  My model railroading ended ~1980, when i bought what was cheap, and resumed 6-7 years ago, when horn hooks were occasionally seen in an older box that had clearly been on th hobby store shelf for a long time.

Bachmann 2-8-0 Consolidation Dimensions

Hi all,

I am an Australian modeler, currently looking at building a SAR 700 class steam locomotive, however, I am without a mechanism, and was wondering how close the Bachmann 2-8-0 consolidation steam locomotive mechanism is.

Information that I require include the driving wheel diameter, wheel spacing and overall wheel base. If anyone can help that would be fantastic and well appreciated.

Regards,

Nick

D&RGW L-105 4-6-6-4 Question

A friend of mine is working on a brass D&RGW L-105. He looked for rear views of the locomotive but found just L-131 tender photos showing a back-up light.

Now the question is, does the L-105 have the same light? It seems to be the same type of tender. I have a Mainline Modeler drawing that shows just class lights on the back of the tender.

Thank you for you assistance

B&M Colors

My google-fu is perhaps weak, but I'm trying to find out when the B&M's classic blue color first ride the rails.  my era is the late 1920's, (with poking into the '30's, since I can't find any HO scale 1920's or earlier tanks...) and I'm wondering if I should use that color--or if not, what color things like the Jordan Spreader should be.

Thanks!

SD45 Handrail Stanchions

I'm rebuilding a Proto 2000 SD45 to Northern Pacific standards.  As the NP had 4 side windows on its SD45 cabs it required an entirely different handrail arrangement where they attached to the cab.

Does any company make an accurate set of stanchions for use on an SD45. I did this to an old Rail Products shell years ago but can't remember what stanchions I used. They were accurate and made from brass or copper berylium.

BNSF 2674.

I grabbed a roof detail shot of BNSF GP39-3 2674 in Klamath Falls yard. I would be interested to know what the pipe like object is used for if indeed it is a pipe.

Walkway handrails for HO BLI NW2/SW7

Does anyone have experience adding side handrails to this model? The stock unit comes without handrails (see attachment 1) and the unit I am modeling has side handrails (see attachment 2).

Thanks!
