Overland Models Trackmobile spare parts

Hello all

I have an Overland Models Trackmobile from a recently deceased friend.
When I wanted to test it, it made a lot of noise and was running erraticly.
So I disassembled the model only to find out that the cause for the noise is the only plastic gear which is in bad shape; the brass ones are still fine. On the smaller gear one tooth was almost gone and several others were damaged. So I need a new gear.

I have tried Brian Marsh from Overland Hobbies, but he couldn't help me since he didn't have any spare parts for a long time.

ESU Cube Speakers & Close Coupling

Hi all,

I'm currently installing my first series of LokSound - Select Direct decoders into an Athearn RTR & Atlas Silver Series.

I purchased the decoders with the ESU (50321) Sugar Cube speaker 15mm x 11mm @ 8 Ohms.  I've seen the discussion before about close coupling these speakers together and the kit comes with the pieces to achieve it but there isn't documentation or instructions about how to put the pieces together to achieve it.

Bachmann tender interchangability

I have a Bachmann 2-8-0. I would like to buy a Bachmann 2-6-0 and use the tender for my 2-8-0. I was wondering if anyone can tall me if the electronic plugs between the loco and tender are interchangeable between Bachmann locos. A while back, I got a Light USRA Bachmann 4-8-2 and bought the extended Vanderbilt tender (that originally came with the Heavy C&O Mountain) and it plugged into the light 4-8-2. I was wonder if the same would work with a 2-8-0 loco with the tender from a 2-6-0.

Any advice would be great.

Decals for Atlas Dow Chemical Plastic Pellet Hopper (20002510)

Hello everyone, I have three Atlas Dow Chemical Plastic Pellet Hoppers with the same road number. I would like to do one of two things. a) renumber two of the cars or b) re-decal two of the cars to have different road names.

I'm just beginning in the hobby, so this will be my first foray into changing the looks of a model. I will also want to do some graffiti and weathering, but that is for a different topic.

ESU Loksound and Decoder Pro on Mac odd behaviour

Hello I've found myself with a somewhat peculiar issue.

I have two locos that I equipped with ESU Loksound decoders.  I used the ESU Lokprogrammer to do the initial loading of sounds and set up as it works quite fast.

However for subsequent editing of speed curves etc I use Decoder Pro.  One of the tools I also use is the Bachrus Speedo, which allows me to measure the speed of each loco in scale MPH and get a graph of a loco. This is then used against a reference 'curve' to match the subject loco to.

Tsunami sound in an Athearn U50

I am thinking about buying an Athearn U50. They come with or without sound (tsunami). How good is the Tsunami sound in the U50? Does it sound like two diesels in one unit or just like one diesel? Is this a full Tsunami or a stripped down one specific to Athearn? Is there a better sound decoder available for a U50?

DCC Power Savers

I learned at a clinic at the Cocoa Beach Proto meet about DCC Power Savers. If this is not a new product please forgive me. I think this would be perfect for my steam locos. Just a few few questions: What are the Power Savers you are using? Are they better than a basic capacitor? Are they Plug and Play or are is there soldering involved?

Question about modeling tubular diaphragms...

Currently, I am modeling the Norfolk Southern OCS in N-Scale. The prototype have what appear to be tubular diaphragms and I am now trying to figure out what size (again, this is for n-scale) heat shrink tubing I should use---as I have MTL heavyweight cars with the body mounted couplers for observation cars and sleepers, but have Rapido & Centralia Shops cars for the lightweight coaches and diner---as well as to what way would be best to attach it to my cars (ie. CA glue, etc.)

Any suggestions and/or tips would be GREATLY appreciated.

Woodchip car in 3D

     Hi all,

I'd like to share my latest project. I've been working on a 3D model of an FMC woodchip gondola, specifically a G-100-15/G-100-17. The design is based upon Rick Selby's article in the March 1992 Model Railroader.

Due to the lack of exact dimensions, I've had to "eyeball" many of the dimensions - especially placement. I would welcome any comments/constructive criticism on how I could improve the design.

Atlas Gold N scale ALCo S-2 concerns

Took delivery of my Atlas N scale ALCo S-2 yesterday. First, I'm blown away by how much volume the little speaker puts out. This thing is loud! It will soon be making a trip to the LokSound programmer for some fine tuning! The quality of the sound puts to shame my MRC decoder-equipped SD-9.
