Old West Trucks...

Okay, so, I just bought a B.T.S. Open Cattle Car on eBay... and I want the right trucks for it... I want trucks that will look the part of the 1860s-70s...

locomotive

When Warflight finally completes his train of Oscars and Pikers, he's going to need some unusual power to go with it, isn't he ?

I was thinking of a 2-4-4-2 compound articulated, perhaps in a Mother Hubbard configuration.

Or a center cab made of two Athearn Hustlers back to back as a center cab. Use the rubber band drive as it provides diesel sound at no extra cost. Sort of.

Container Trains pulled by Steam Engines?

To my knowledge all the containerized trains came along well after most all the steam engines were phased out. Please correct me if I'm wrong?

Kind of bums me out as I have some nice container type trains I want to run on my layout, but I also love steam engines and want to run a number of very nice ones I have as well.

Decoder for a B'mann 44-Ton

Afternoon all.  I have a couple Bachmann GE 44-ton locos, with dead decoders, which I don't want to send in for warranty repair.  I'd like to put decent, if not pricey, decoders in these engines.  Sound is nice, but not a necessity.  Anyone have suggestions for a suitable replacement decoder?

Thanks in advence...

Changing lettering/numbering on boxcar

I'd like to make this model's "CN 400404"

and turn in into this "CNIS 400404". Note numbers were made smaller to fit to accommodate the "CNIS". This was done in 1970 to 71.

So far a friend mention the possibility of making a stencil somehow.

RS3m

Just curious if anyone has actually built a PC/CR RS3m loco?

CMR Products makes a shell, wanted to see if anyone has one that they finished and if so any tips or hints that may be helpful in building one.

Logging Locos & Minimum Radius Curves

In general the many real life logging locos could negotiate some pretty rough track, and I imagine some pretty tight turns.

What will our models do? What sort of minimum radius turns will our HO logging locos negotiate?

Athearn Bombardier Passenger Cars

I had a chance to purchase some Athearn Bombardier Passenger cars that were like brand new. It is my understanding that these have not been available in some time due to licensing by the commuter railroad that owned them. Apparently, Athearn couldn't pay the royalties associated with the trademark. So apparently, the Florida Tri Rail cars are kind of hard to find.

Modelling a CP MLW C424

I've recently dug into my CP C424 4221 (now OSCR 4221), an 80's Atlas Kato that myself with the help of my friends The Winterton's semi detailed and painted 30 Years ago. Still runs smooth (although I will eventually ge around to DCC conversion with the loud rugged sounds of an Alco). However, I never got round to the correct tank and used the grills by Miniatures By Eric which were incorrect.

Need dimensions of Boeing train containers

I wasn't able to find this anywhere else so I thought I would ask here:

Does anyone know the dimensions for the BNSF/Boeing Fuselage train containers?  Specifically I'm looking for the container that fits immediately behind the aircraft fuselage, only takes up about 1/2 of the flatcar and has an angled face on the front.  I believe that container holds the vertical and horizontal stabilizers.

The container I'm looking for is shown in this picture from Walthers:
