Decoder for Walthers Mainline GP9 HH Phase II
All,
I'm trying to figure out which sound decoder will work with a newly acquired Walther's NYC Mainline GP9 HH Phase II in HO scale.
The locomotive has a 21 pin plug, how do you determine if it's NEM or NMRA standard?
I would prefer to stick with a TCS or Soundtrax setup with sound and KA. This locomotive was powered by a EMD 567C.
Any guidance would be appreciated; I searched for a couple of hours, but I'm more confused than when I started :)
Thanks,
Lou
Atlas HO RS11 and Sharp Curves
Can the Atlas RS11 traverse sharp curves? (like 15" radius)
Can it do so without modification?
15" Radius Friendly F-Units
What brands/ product lines of HO F Units are 15" radius curve friendly (i.e., they can negotiate a 15" radius curve without modification)?
Preferably you've tested your own locos so you know they will work.
Appreciate the insight.
Painting a locomotive
I have a Kato NW2 I got off Ebay that was originally DRGW, but had a coat of thick brown paint and then half of a clumsy, green Reading paint job applied over that. I'm stripping the paint off with isopropyl alcohol and q-tips (does anyone know a better implement for this job?) and it has a black plastic shell. I plan to repaint the engine Southern Sylvan Green, should I use primer or apply some Reefer Yellow as a lighter base coat?
small slugs
I'm interested to find out if any railroads had or tested/experimented with single truck (presumably 3 axle) slugs. I have an obsession with B units, slugs, fuel tenders, etc. and the thought occurred to me last night that that might be the answer to a short line or yard that needed a little more oomph for some jobs. Just a question with maybe no answer. Kodachrome John P.S. never posted a new topic before (does it show?) so any corrections needed by Mr. Fugate may be done as necessary.
Athearn SD40-2 DC to DCC
I have a 37+ year old SD40-2 and would like to install a new DCC motor. What all do I need to do this? I also need a new rear worm drive assembly for the rear. What is a good source for old parts? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Proto 2000 2-8-2 Parts
I recently purchased a Proto 2000 2-8-8-2 off of eBay. It has some issues with broken and missing parts in the running gear. Does anyone know of a source for parts outside of Walthers? I contacted Walthers and while they do have parts, not the parts that I need.
Proto 2K SW9: 15" Radius friendly?
Will a Proto 2000 SW9 negotiate a 15" radius curve without modification?
Is it "15 inch radius friendly" so to speak?
Athearn ALCO PA/PB rebuild x 5
Well, I'm at it again. My light build and 250T darrick is on hold waiting on parts, so on to the next.
I bought 3 Athearn Alco PA-1 locomotives and 2 PA B units so I can make a A-B-B-A with a reserve A unit. All are powered.
I started the project by disassembling all the parts and starting on the frames. I deburred the frame castings, rounded off edges and sand blasted with F100. I did the same with the trucks and each wheel - without hitting spindles.
Walthers GP35 DCC to DC
I have a Walthers Proto GP35 that has DCC/Sound. I want to convert it to DC and really cant find anything anywhere on what is needed to do this. I bought the engine to help out a friend and everything he owned had DCC/sound.
Thanks
Mi
