Scenery and structures

Twin Track Freight House
I'm looking for an HO freight/transfer house that will allow railroad access on two sides. Ideallly, it would be a brick structure.
I like the looks of the Better Than Scratch Freight House, which could work with a couple of modifications.
I am also considering the Lyndon Freight House from Creative Laser Design
Has anyone seen anything similar on their travels that I've missed? I've already looked at

Foam... gluing it and cutting it.
Okay, so far my adventures in foam scenery have generally involved taking one or two sheets, of assorted thicknesses, and carving away at it with a Surform tool.
Generally speaking... it works. More or less.
My first trees!
I finally took the plunge and cranked out a few conifers. I followed Pete Vassler's tree clinic at the end of Joe's Scenery DVD (#5). I'm pretty excited with how they turned out and want to hear what you guys think. (If they look lousy...feel free to delete the part about how I watched Joe's scenery DVD to learn how to make them!)
Weathering ballast for PRR track
Greetings all,
My layout is set in PA on the PRR in the late 40s early 50s. This layout is a freelance branch line of the double mainline trackage. I have been looking through as much material as I can for color pics. of the RR during this time. As I have looked at the images I have seen that the mains have nice gray ballast, the sidings are more of a tan/ buff/ iron oxide color and the yards are dark gray/ black with cinders.
Capturing That Expensive Scenery Turf/Grass
I have discovered on my first table that 1.) scenery turf and grass is expensive, 2.) it looks the best when applied quite liberally, and 3.) this liberal application is difficult to recapture for reuse.
While at the local thrift store, I spotted a handheld dustvac for a buck and thought I just might be able to make this work...
i found mrc is doing a "Order Your FREE Trees Now" ($5s/h)
i am sorry if you think this is an ad
Why Portland Cement?
What is the purpose of adding Portland Cement to the plaster mix covering the masking tape in MTV Video #4? Is it to add the gray color to the mix or is it a vital part of the mix? Can anything else be used? My reason for asking is that Portland Cement is not available here and it would cost a fortune to have some shipped in.

Static Grass and Applicator Question
I am very interested in trying out the static grass system Joe uses in the MRH video series. I model in N-Scale and would like to know if any N-Scalers have tried using this stuff and what the results were.

Mixing Oil Paints
Hi all-
As a bit of a side project, I'm attempting to mimic Jappe's concrete weathering technique that he outlines in this post. I've painting the base concrete coat on the model however I have little experience working with artists' oils and had a question. Does anyone out there have a good tip on mixing these thicker paints?
