Hide Helix with Structures?

Is it possible to hide a 2 turn helix with structures? I would like to avoid the "helix in a mountain" route. Can someone give me guidance on how this is done specifically the entry and exit points? Pictures would be super.

Thank you.

Designing the vertical

One aspect of this hobby that has always given me trouble is designing the vertical element of my layouts such as mountains roads etc. In the past I have always just sort of winged it and what ever came out was what I lived with.

"Upgrading" Assembled Central Valley 150' Truss Bridge

I have three assembled Central Valley 150' Truss Bridge, in HO Scale and would like to use them for a coal branchline that uses 2-6-6-2's and 2-6-6-6's and 70-Ton Hoppers.  I am modeling circa 1953.  If I understand correctly about the prototype of this bridge, it can not handle the load of such equipment.  So how can I "upgrade" these bridges without trying to disassemble them?  What if I change the string that I guess supports some kind of wire or rod with pieces of thick floral wire?  Or are the steel members themselves too small?  A

Floquil Enamel Paint Marker

Is it just me or has anyone else had problems with Floquils paint markers not coloring the track rail that well. My silver rail seems to still bleed through even after I use it. I've had much better luck just using Pollyscale paint and a brush on the rails.

Coloring Silflor

I purchased some clumps of Silflor in a late summer green. I've got plenty of them though that I would like different colors without having to purchase another $30 dollar sheet. What is the best method to color silflor? AIM chalk or floquil or pollyscale paint? Can it be done? Here's a picture of what I've got. I want some yellow faded clumps of grass strewn in with the green.

(The woodland scenic straight grass looks bad and will be replaced)

Scale.

What is scale? I am not a purist and like running trains around and around. So I probably give offence to the sensibilities of prototype hardliners. I got rid of my business computer and installed a modest HO table. I want to put some pics on here if I can figger out how.

Colored Poly Fill and Puff Ball Trees

A couple years back at the Detroit NMRA convention thier was a clinic about puff ball trees and in the clinic the presenter had a source for the Poly Fill used to make the puff balls that was not white, His scource was mail order but the cost was cheep. Does anyone know this scource?  Or have one of thier own? Of course I need the info now and that is the one hand out I can not seam to find.

I know MicroMark sells it but the cost of what they sell is just nuts.

What saw to use?

Hi. I am doing some scratch HO buildings. I cut lumber on table saw and a bandsaw. I ask what I can cut out window holes etc. on 3/32 x 3/4 pine stock for insertion of plastic windows. A 1/16th hole at corners can do but where what can a model keyhole saw be found? Any suggestions appreci8ted. I am doing a coaling tower in HO as my test. Help.
