Program your road number using JMRI and Digitrax PR3
I've started setting my DCC locomotive addresses to their road numbers. Took me a little bit to figure it out so I thought I'd share it with you. It's very easy to do once you have the process down.
QSI Decoder Issues
To All,
Having a problem with a QSI Quantum Q1a decoder. I'm unable to program any CV's or address its address with either my Digitrax Zephyr or my computer via JMRI Decoder Pro.
Can anyone suggest any ideas for reseting the decoder to factory settings. If I can't do that I guess I'm wondering if anyone knows where I can get a replacement decoder that will work ... the loco is a Walthers Proto 2000 GP7.
Thanks for your help,
Steve
Track advise
I have been gone about 4 years, time is allowing me another opertunity to return. My question is, please dont flame me, can I hand lay Code 55 for my entire HO layout? The layout in my mind is going to be a switching layout very similier to small town graineries, or a solid papermill, Are the wheel on todays models suitable for code 55, Iv got aver 90 feet of ME rail and several handmade switches that I made a while back
Manual activation of a grade crossing signal
I have a spot on the layout where a grade crossing will cross 8 tracks:
Wye and other Options DCC Layout
Finalizing my track plan for my new 12x15 room size layout. (See Below)
The issue I am running into is the wye design understanding the gaps and "auto reverser" necessary.
Questions:
1. Will the turnout on the track segment "between the wye" cause any issues? (Non-powered FROG)
Grade crossing controlled by Arduino
Hello and thanks for offering to look at the situation!
I started a grade crossing a couple of years ago with thoughts of having an Arduino control the lights of two grade crossing signals. See the basic electronics, drawing of the system below and pictures of the situation. Essentially it is a grade crossing that crosses two legs of a wye. There are two sidings that are associated but minor working parts of the current code.
ESU's LokProgrammer on Linux
Hi folks, does any of you have any success with ESU's Lokprogrammer (software + hardware) on Linux? I've seen a thread where the answer has a guy saying he can run it under Mac OS X using VMWare (https://beta.groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/loksound/conversations/messages...), and then there's a long thread in German, where one guy seems like he succeed at running the the software on Wine and write to the decoder by mapping the COM ports to Unix serial ports over USB. However, Google's translator is not great and some details are a bit confusing.
Today's disaster in model railroading
About six months ago I got a great deal on a Bowser C636 non sound locomotive. I was disappointed when I opened her up and realized that an 8 pin decoder would not work on it. Didn't want to spend 40+ dollars on an ESU decoder that the Bowser web page recommended. So I decided to install an NCE DA-SR decoder in it. Got it installed and it ran fine. When I went to hook up the lights I ended up frying all the LEDs. I also ended up frying the decoder. So yesterday I went to the LHS and bought a new DA-SR decoder.
Layout Electrical Help
HELP! I am having a problem with my two train layout (see attached PDF) using Lionel Fastrack. I want to run Track A and B independently using my Lionel ZW-L transformer. Each track is wired separately using bus wiring but is connected by the two 90 degree crossovers. Both trains run at the same time whether I connect the A or B track to the transformer. How do I prevent this from happening? I want to run each track off of a separate throttle.

Keep Alive in Bowser VO-1000
I was going to install a keep alive in my Bowser VO-1000 switcher this morning. Until I opened it up and found the factory installed decoder does not have the standard capacitor like all the other Soundtraxx decoders I have.
So my question is how do I wire it up now? I have never seen a Soundtraxx decoder like this. It has "BSR01.04" on a tag.
I am installing the digitrax keep alive because it fits this space better than the Sountraxx one.
Thanks for the help.
