Bachmann 44 ton DCC install issues

Hello I installed a Soundtraxx TSU 1100 #885002in a Bachmann 44 ton switcher.

I noticed that the right and left truck connectors almost touch the frame and I think that might be the culprit causing a short.

I verified all my connections going to the decoder and all is OK.

I tested the loco with my Digitrax and a BEEP sound is emitted so that means there's a short caused by the loco.

I also tested the loco on a DC system and there's a No Go.

ESU's New WiFi product

Just read the announcement from ESU about their new Cab Control DCC System, designed for the North American market.

My first question was whether the throttles could be used on an existing JMRI WiThrottle setup and the answer was YES. Now we can drop the cell phones and have actual throttles. I'm quite enthused about this news.

Loksound decoder installation questions

I purchased all the stuff I would need to put a sound decoder in one of my older Kato RS-2's many months ago from Tony's. And a couple speakers since.   Here is what it all looks like. Confusion is my only excuse for waiting to do this.

Trouble shooting loco and track moved to new thread/post

For some reason, this 4-6-2 loco slows down a tad in this turn, as if it is a strain on it power wise. This 4-6-2 runs like a charm elsewhere on the layout and is one of my finest running models.

At first I though it may be the the curve, but it is a 35 inch radius. I also checked the track with a gauge for tread clearance and width and they were good. I also checked the point of the turnout made good contact and seems fine.

Tsunami 2 Speed table activation Help needed

Hello, I just installed a Tsunami 2 sound decoder in a P2K  GP7.

I read and re-read the Technical data sheet about the 3 point speed table and it's very complicated to understand the Bit Values.

I want to adjust  -CV2: Start Voltage; CV3: Acceleration Rate; CV4: Deceleration Rate; CV5: Voltage High and CV6: Mid Voltage.

Now to enable theses CV's I read that I have to configure CV29 to a certain value.

That's where I got lost in the Bit Values.

Geoff's KAOS adjustment

I just built my first KAOS. How cool it is !!!!

Two questions:

1) I got a bunch of caps off of eBay 1000uF 25 volt. One worked good, two wired in parallel worked much better.   Am I going to have problems with overloading a DB150 booster with a bunch of cars like this?

Stupid DCC question...

Okay, so... I've been working with one of my Norris engines (the "Pegasus", though I could use my LaFayette if I have to... but they are identical either way)

I know they can be converted to DCC, because I've seen it done... and I do have some N scale decoders in the drawer (it seems "N" will fit better) but I haven't a clue what I'm doing, or how.

ESU 21 Pin Decoders

I'm no DCC expert but I try to learn and have a good foundation in electronics so this post is to convey some information that I figured out after some confusion and consternation.

To cork or not to cork, that is the question

I am planning right now to have mostly switching track serving an urban industrial area and also a small yard. I want that cinder ballasted look of yards and old misused industry trackage. It doesn't make sense to me to use cork roadbed. Subroadbed will be sheet plywood by the way. Should I simply lay track on the plywood? Would there be any profile and if so what would I use? I have heard of using N scale cork but that would leave a gap in the middle which would eat ballast would it not?

Peco Streamline & Setrack turnouts, Fleischmann Pro-Track turnouts

Yesterday I found many of my Peco turnouts, and and their 'Streamline' versions label their turnouts as 'small radius", medium radius, and large radius. Peco's small radius appears to match the Fleischmann Pro-Track small radius.

But I also discovered an even smaller radius turnout from Peco. I have a paper template of it, but not an actual turnout itself. It was termed a Peco "Setrack"  ST-240,241 left or right hand turnout. Do they still make such an item?

Are the Fleischmann turnouts DCC compatible??
