Kitty litter ballast ?
So, my buddy tells me he wants to use kitty litter as ballast because he can get a whole lot of it for cheap.
I suggested he look at scale stone product such as the stuff marketed by Scenic Express or Arizona Rock.
He says, nope... too expensive...
We have had the discussion about how to use real dirt, cats who are going to love his ballast, ground walnut shells, etc.

Speed of Speed Matching
I've been following the discussion on RailPro in another topic, and it seems that people find speed matching a mysterious procedure.

No on/off switch
I must have an earlier Bachmann E-Z command theres no on/off switch.
New MRC decoders?!?
I noticed yesterday that MRC has all new decoders I guess this is their 3rd generation?
They still have some of the older ones too, but my first observation is that the new ones cost less and appear smaller?
Has anyone tried them?
I know MRC is not popular in DCC, but I have to say I've had nothing but success with their second gen Sound decoders. Less thrilled with the basic decoders.
And they still are missing a GE soundset of any kind.

Running dcc sound on dc
I have 2 Bachmann sound value gp7s that I run with a DC controller. The engines run great most of the time and ify other times I clean the track frequently.I had mentioned earlier about the disappearing dead spot .the 2 dcc engines are the ones that have the problem.I have a dc engine that runs with no problems.Would using a dcc controller solve the problem? I had a bachmann dcc ez command that worked decently but then it stopped working the sound in idle would work but the engine would not work.
Ok thank you

Disappearing Dead spot
On my layout main every now and then i get a dead spot on the non diverging side of a peci switch. This a set track peco turn out that the frog is insulated.Tonight the dead spot lasted for about 15 slow speed passes then poof the dead spot disappeared any idea whats going on?
Thank you
Mark

Problem with momentum on Broadway Limited SW7
I have a Broadway Limited SW7. CV3 and CV4 are both set to 0 so the loco should respond immediately to any throttle changes but it acts as though it has acceleration and braking momentum configured. JMRI shows a standard speed table. here is a short video showing the problem.
Any thoughts or ideas please?
Placement of gaps for auto reversing
Hi
I have a return loop with a standard #6 fast track N scale turnout at each end .The turnouts have the usual gaps for a live frog.
How close to the turnouts can I put the reversing gaps to the turnouts. It would be convenient for me to put them between the diverging ends and the flextrack. Is this too close to the frogs for practical purposes ?
Using PSX-AR and NCE.

Jerky performance all of a sudden on DCC
I have a Digitrax Evolution system and I am still learning all the ins and outs. I have it set up with JMRI to run the switches (I don't use it to run trains - I use the throttle for that). Yesterday, it seemed that all of my locos had become much more sensitive to the throttle than before and don't run as slowly as they did.
Troubleshooting a QSI Quantum Revolution A
So, the club received a donation of an unused Quantum Revolution A decoder without instruction book. I was told it had a GE soundset programmed in it. SO I proceeded to to put it in the club's custom painted Bachmann Dash8-40CW. When I fired it up, the loco ran and the basic lights worked as expected. needed a few trim adjustments. So I took it to the programming track and set it to a long address (3001) Note, we use MRC Prodigy Advance2 I also set start voltage to 20 just as a guess.
