Just dreamin' here, so I think I am in the right place.

Forget for a minute that the sound is probably already scale... I want it to be louder.

Small On30 layout for showa

A bunch of old guys need help. Because of age we have sold our 8' X 20' layout and would now like to build a smaller On30 Layout. We have an average age of 65+ and find we need to scale down.

The layout will go to about 12 shows a year as well as our own show. This year will be our 26th annual show.

It has to be a run around for the mainline, have a brewery and several other small buildings. We have 4 modules that are 2' X 4'. we would like to connect them to form a 6' X 6' square with a small hole in the center.

Help sanity check start to layout design...

Hi! A quick intro... my name is Aaron and I'm just getting back into model railroading after many years. I grew up with a Lionel layout in my attic that my dad built when I was young and have always wanted to buy a house and build my own layout! I've recently purchased a house in Lincoln, NE where I'm from and have my first opportunity to go nuts and build a mini empire. :)

Advice requested on shelf layout...

Hi,

I'm about to start putting up some shelves in my train room. Attached is an AnyRail screenshot of my three current options. What I'm struggling with is the following...

How did you "obtain" your layout space?

So...here's a topic that is always an elephant in the room. How do you carve out space for a layout? Right now, I have a bedroom sized space that is my hobby area...layout, workbench, and storage. It's small, but it's my space. I don't have to share it with a car or a washer and dryer or anything else. However, this is a rental. (Actually it's military housing, but same principle). In a few years we will have to move and hopefully it will be into a house that we will have built.

Possible switching plan; revised and cleaned up

I have revised the boatyard switching scene based on a lot of ideas I’ve received here.  The line running through the scene continues on to other destinations, and may need to be switched from either direction, once it’s incorporated into a larger layout.  For now, thought, all traffic will enter from the left, and leave the same way.
