Accessing every inch of track

I show you all my techniques for accessing all the track for cleaning, wrecks, and maintenance. With trap doors, behind mountains hollow, bridges lift off, large tunnel openings and even kneeing on the layout. I learned my lesson from my first 4X8 layout.

IAIS's West End - On "Model Railroading Live" tonight

Trucks replaced the Trains

The trucks were the demise of the trains at Bingham Canyon Mine and this is what I drove when I worked at the mine, so we need to talk about Haulage Trucks.

Renovation

Before I can get going building a layout, I needed to complete the renovation I had planned for the apartment. Although I closed in early May, I couldn't start because the government had a prohibition on construction work due to the pandemic. That was lifted in June, but the building has a restriction against renovations during the peak vacation season of July and August, and June wasn't enough time to get done, so I elected to postpone everything until September.

Short Solo Session on the Shore Line

I'm discovering that there's nothing quite like the relaxation and pleasant diversion you get from just operating a local freight train. Lots of others got to this party before me, but - driven by the lack of formal op sessions - I've just recently arrived at this realization, having operated the outbound leg of the Airline Local just a few weeks ago.
