The trouble with trees......
The trouble with trees is that layouts eat them. I've been in a real rut lately with the layout and with modeling and the hobby in general. I briefly considered leaving because I thought I had lost the " magic" I was getting out of modeling and then, just like that, I found it again.
Troublesome Triangle: Your Help Needed
Alright y'all. I've got this unused triangle of rail-served real estate and I have no idea what to do with it. I've gone back and forth many many times on what would work best there but all I have decided is that this is a terribly inconvenient space and I've (literally) backed myself into a corner. Heres a bit wider view of the scene.
Proto 2000 issue!
I am currently in the middle of converting my Proto 2000 SW900/1200 to dcc, i have replaced the motor with a Mashima and the flywheels are original and it fits great. I have re-wired the trucks for better conductivity however there is an issue with it shorting out.
When i put the loco on the track with decoder installed it shorts out (there is nothing else on the track as it is a test track) i thought it may be a decoder situation so i have 2 different decoders one is a TCS and another NCE. I have tested with both and no luck.
Ashland Dairy Products
Ashland Dairy Products severe kit bash is finished. It took longer then normal because I took LOTS of pictures as I went along. I will post the pictures of the various steps I went through to get here.

IAIS's West End - Atlantic Spur on a shelf
I've always wanted to model more of Iowa Interstate's approximately two mile long Atlantic Spur, the IAIS schematic of which is shown below:
The Chase
To celebrate the third anniversary of construction beginning on my IAIS Grimes Line layout, but also to try out my new HD-DSLR camera, I put together a quick railfan video this weekend. Follow train DMSW-25 thru some of my favorite, and less obvious, railfan spots along the Grimes Line.

Train order working was introduced to the South Australian railway system by W A Webb ex Colorado Midland and the KATY commissioner of railways during the 1920s and remained in use in train order territories well into the 1980s
Transfer Terminal Kitbash -- Part 1
I first saw noticed this building 11 years ago while riding the train from Toronto to Ottawa. You get to spend a while looking at it during the station stop at Brockville (the VIA station is on the right). And of course if you're a modeller you think: That cries out to be kitbashed out of Pikestuff!
