GP7B Kitbash (the gp7 is now a gp7b)
Great news, I was able to locate another Atlas GP7 in the Santa fe livery. Now as soon as I get the engine and finish testing I will work on the conversion into a GP7B an interesting engine and possibly a one of a kind on this forum (if you do have one lets see it) I am aware Athearn is working on one but I have two problems: 1. Way out of my price range and 2. It will have a different drive and make speed matching a little more difficult.
Track Laying Help
Hey everyone. I've been laying track this week and hit a little blip. I knew it was going to be difficult, but not nearly this difficult. In one corner of my layout there is an area where the sump pump pipe comes up and through. The main line tracks (two of them) go around it at a wider-24" radius and then they yard goes between the pipe and the wall. I am going to need some of your ideas on how to lay track on the other side of it, my reach is about 3 feet, and there area where the track will be is about for.

Colorado Front Range ---First Hill
I am re-posting this as the link was broken sorry about that. My son build a foam cutter that we use to build a hatch over the staging yard ladder using pink foam and plaster cloth. I do not dip the cloth as that is messy. I work with the cloth dry and use water and a paintbrush. I buy the cloth in bulk of 64 rolls and it works out to less the $2.00 per roll 4 inch wide by 180 inches ( http://www.amazon.com/Creative-Mark-Plaster-Cloth-Large/dp/B0049V1BY0 )
hope this is helpfuly to you

On the Hunt For a GP-7
I am trying to find an Atlas Classic (Black and Red Box) GP-7 from a few years back. I am looking for it in the Santa Fe paint scheme and google isn't being that helpful. I am going to try some kitbashing to make it into a GP-7B to add some interest to my engines.

Alexandria Waterfront Diorama is finished
I finished the diorama for the Lyceum, Alexandria's City Museum. I will deliver it on Wednesday. The diorama is an N Scale depiction of the Alexandria waterfront in 1855. There is a locomotive works, coal yard and grain elevator show on the diorama. It will go on display in the museum in a few weeks. Here is a shot showing the grain elevator.
Layout Progress - The DM&IR in 1/87
Hi again everyone. I've been working away on the layout the last few days. All the track came in and made me get things into gear. All the foam has been painted. All the benchwork is up. The ore dock has been installed. Track laying begins tonight. Here's some picture updates. As always, if you have any thoughts, feel free to share.

MRL Show case update #5 - Two weeks to go
Hi all.
So, I have two weeks to get some scenery done on the layout. The show that I am going to attend is on the 19th and 20th March, so I got to hurry up. Family and work are first, but I have to get things done.
I'll show some photos on the next post.
Best wishes.

Progress on the Greater Nickel Plate
Small Town America - the railroad starts to come to life. A few details here. . . a few details there. While the glue and paint are drying, I'm still able to switch a few cars here and there as well.
