Recent Finds at local craft store

I was in Morehead City, NC yesterday shopping and went into the local Hobby Lobby craft store to see what they had to offer. I found two interesting items that perhaps someone out there isn't aware of. Oe was a new to me type of X-Acto #11 blade with a coating on them that keeps the edge longer, and the other is a package of shaped cotton swabs from Tamiya that would seem to be useful; in weathering cars or maybe even applying grease or oil to lubricate locos.

Finishing Off a little wiring...

So to complete the track work for the locomotive servicing facility, the Rutherford Yard industries including the wood chip mill I needed to install the extra track feeds to the track work.

We had to deal with trains going around the loop for the open house.

Seaboard Central Train 442 awaits to Depart Griffin

Here we see Seaboard Central Train 442 waiting to depart Griffin Yard heading north to Carrollton, GA. This train makes a turn returning later in the evening with cars for Industries in and around Griffin. The train normally ranks three former BNSF ex Santa Fe SD40-2s for power. As a professional engineer the SD40-2 has remained one of my all time favorite locomotives and they are a fixture on my Seaboard Central set in Apriil 2015.

My 2 rail HiRail O scale adventure begins

A little history:

I've been a model railroader for most of my 42 years. My first train set was a Lionel 3 rail set when I was 4 yrs. old. Shortly after that my uncle gave me his HO trains. My father and I built both O and HO layouts when I was young. I've been struggling with the pull between Toy and scale trains ever since :).

Neck deep in projects.

I set up some saw horses in the basement so I could work on laying the rear track on the waterfront shelf. We precut and located the risers and roadbed andthen moved the whole section to the saw horses so I could do some scenery. Easier to work bith sides then try to lean over the benchwork. So much for that plan. It has been sitting there over a week.
