Cornhill and Atherton - Insular Gorge
Now that the lower deck track work is complete I can move on to the (arguably) more interesting subject of scenery.
I have three major project areas - Glanton, Cornhill and Insular Gorge and it's the latter I am starting with because the ideas are most developed for this section. Also, track testing continues in the two towns, whereas Insular Gorge is simple straight track through a scenic section:

20+ Years of Collecting Unfinished Projects
Like most folks, I've managed to collect a fair number of unfinished modeling projects over the last many years. They often get put aside for any number of reasons - waiting for a back-ordered part, something newer shows up - and then forgotten.
IAIS Grimes Line: Every 39 Feet
After a near 18 month lull, some progress on details for the IAIS Grimes Line.
I recently purchased several set of joint bars from Precision Design (who makes a lot of cool stuff) with the idea of doing a stretch of track for photography purposes. It's definitely a work in progress but I still have the goal of adding the bars to most of the layout, which is very possible to achieve on a smaller line like mine.
Arizona & California GP35's
After befriending an old trainmaster for the Arizona & California Railroad and seeing the exceptional work here at The Railwire, I wanted to try my hand at modeling with more of a prototype focus. I've always been a fan of GP35's and the A&C has one particular locomotive that is an ex-SP unit that has some neat detail that would push my modeling skills and hopefully teach me some things. I decided to build two of these locomotives so I would have the extra practice and two unique pieces of equipment. The prototype is ARZC 3503, ex-SP 6356.
Forum issues...
Okay, so... I can't comment!
I log into this forum, and it will let me blog, sure... but if I try to comment on any thread, it logs me out, and tells me I have to log in to make a comment (deleting whatever comment I've typed)
Also, if I go to another page, it does the same thing. So, say I'm reading a new message, and there are more new messages on the next page, when I go, I'm logged out again.
I have no idea how to fix this!
The Chessie System in Michigan, a layout of my own.
I must start this with a bit of backstory, my name is Sandy Saunders and I live in Worcester, England. For the last twenty years or so I have been a member of an N Scale modular group (Snake Bend - link) and have found it enjoyable and fulfilling.
model-genic railway bridge
One of the benefits of my job is that I get to fly around in helicopters. On my recent trip to eastern Quebec we flew out of the airport at Havre St. Pierre. The QIT (Quebec Iron and Titanium) railway bridge is just to the west of the airport, so I made a point of requesting the pilot to fly around the bridge so I could take some photos - one of the perks of being the boss. He did so, and I am thinking I need to figure out a reason to have this bridge on my layout. Not correct for my locale but pretty cool none the less.
Figure converting.
I wanted a figure to look like he's climbing up onto my switcher but I didn't have any suitable so I decided to have a go at converting one.
I started with a figure that was close. Unfortunately his arms were too wide and both his legs were straight.
First I measured the width of the handrails. Then I cut the arms of with a sharp hobby knife. By slow removing a little bit of plastic at a time, and constantly offering up the arms I got the correct width.
Layout update.
I've done a little more on the yard office scene. Still planing the rest of the scenery that needs to be done, but I think I have nearly got it finalized.
An over view of the scene. The road still needs finishing and a large tree needs to be planted in the right corner behind the earth mover.
Old rusted I beams, plus general trash.
Ho scale ore boat
As mentioned in another one of my posts I'm building a ship for my future layout. Im going to post pictures as I progress on the model on this page.
