Pembroke: Flat Cars

I have been thinking that I need a side project while completing the heavy shop. Most nights, I'm not able to make progress on the woodworking as it's too late to run the table saw. Casting about for a little diversion, I thought about making some flat cars.

Late Summer Progress on Cascade Sub: Fascia and Digitrax

The past week offered opportunity to get back into the basement after almost 7 months away from the railroad and continue to make progress in any way possible. After a successful winter work session, the project list was still long with a few major projects remaining before more intricate and detailed work can begin. Some time was spent on each major goal, and the coming week will provide more opportunity for work.

A visit to the Iowa Interstate Subdivision 3

Today I spent a very enjoyable day in Iowa City visiting with Colin O’Brien along with his good friends, Clark Cooper and Steve Malcolm. 

Layout Update

Its been several months since the last update, Looking at my last blog post, its amazing to see how far things have progressed.

The Port Adelaide Branch - this is an industrial spur that feeds the Mile End staging yards. It has two suburban stations (a wooden step-down platform, in keeping with the industrial feel and a short concrete faced platform - both long enough to serve a 400 class Redhen railcar when required. There are multiple industries - a fuel distributor, cement plant, farm machinery plant, farmers co-op, Mill and meat works.

During the last weeks I installed lightning for my Lochdubh and Achnasheen Railway and bought some rolling stock, which now ist partly converted to Dapol magnetic knuckle couplers.

L & N MNO&P Div. 1955 HO

This railroad has been under construction for many years but couple of years ago Mikes life long fiend Lou Schultz and the C & O Allegheny Div passed away so time to move forward. We are almost ready to operate.
