Confessions of a Model Railroad Hobbyist...
So, I have a confession (and an excuse... I'm still kinda new) but... I have never bought, or put together a craftsman kit.
I'm interested... but never have.
(I do want to find an "Oscar and Piker" set, and put them together... does that count?)
So what are your confessions? What's your dirty little secret as a Hobbyist? What have you done, or not done that you want to someday rectify? (or maybe never want to do?)
This could be fun, and it could give folks some good ideas!
Op Sessions on the N&W Pocahontas District
Well, it finally happened. Thanks to Bill Brillinger who came for a layout visit and put me in touch with some other local model railroaders in my area, I was able to host my first real ops session on my layout.
I've never hosted an op session before on any of my previous layouts, so this was a new experience for me. But it was definitely a great one! Dave Hamilton and Randy Nord come over and we ran trains for a little more than 2 hours.
Hekawi layout update.
So, I was going to do an update on my layout blog, and was putting it off, because I was all like "But I don't have photos", and a friend who is visiting was all "isn't that your camera? Isn't photography like... kinda your job?"
*b███h*
*ahem*
So I took some photos.
Okay, so, you can see pink foam through it, but, remember, I haven't painted it yet.
Two New Haven boxcars
I was down in West Linncott and shot these two Hew Haven boxcars standing there. I always liked the large script logo used on these cars at that time. Here we find a Pullman Standard PS-1 on the left and an AAR 1937 car on the right.
Question About Upgrading Box Car Details
Hey guys. I've been meaning to start a weathering project for a boxcar I bought off of Ebay and was wondering if I could get your help with it. I picked up an old Athearn? 50' boxcar decorated for the Marinette Tomahawk & Western Railway. I had intended to weather it for a Hartford & Slocomb patchout but the MTW car was hard to come by for a price I could live with. I eventually settled for the older, less detailed model because I was willing to take the necessary steps to upgrade it.
Ballasting...
Okay, so... what I was told at the hobby shop was, spread the ballast, then spray it with a "wet water" made from water and alcohol, and then glue it using 50% Elmer's Glue All, and 50% water...
Korrugated- or tiled roofs from PVA-glue

A rotary coal dumper in N scale from an old kit of 45 years old
Hi,
As some of you know I have and heavy interest in coal transportation with trains and ship.
I'm modeling in N scale and started two years ago the construction of an N scale high lift coal dumper.
Because of some health troubles work on this model had slow down, even if I restart to work on it.
In Belgium we have a big train show every two years, the next one coming in 2018.
By request of friends, they push me to make a module to be showed at this show.
So you want to Model a Railroad?
Fun Warner Brother's short, with a hilarious ending! (no spoilers!)
