Anyone going to this? I'm signed up and paid up. Will also be going to dinner at Clara's Friday night. Lots of layout tours and a couple of prototype tours. I plan to video some of the layouts and will be posting on Youtube
Card model download of historic eastern RR-Station - Maryland
Hallo,
i´d like to share a very nice card model of an old eastern railroad station. It is
a nice model to build in a manner of more than 100 years ago or simply to
put it to the layout room as a nice decoration.
The CCT&E Update - The Drive-In Movie Theater
Hi All;
It's been a while since I've posted anything. However, some progress has been made on the scenery of the "CCT&E Ry".
I've always had the idea in my head of taking about a 7" Portable DVD Player and kit-bashing it, to turn it into a working 'Drive-In Movie Theater' for the "CCT&E".
New to group
Thank you for having me as a member. I've always dreamed of building a layout and now. due to an accident at work, my dream is coming true. I'm building my layout in a spare room of our house. It is a 10x12 and I've gone down one wall 7' then down 12' then back up the other 10'. I've secured 1x1 to the walls for support and used 2x4's for leggs and also ripped them for the 1x1's. I toped iy all off with 1/2" masonite.
Trackwork and roadbed
Its been a while since i have reported any progress on my layout but work commitments have slowed me down. I have since got about 60 percent of the roadbed in place and the trackwork has been layed in the town of harpers.
LED Lighting Test
Is LED lighting workable for layout lighting? In my case, close but no cigar.
Here is my test setup. The bench top is 54" from the floor. The valance panel is 21" above the bench top. The LED strip is mounted 2" from the bottom of the valance. That makes the LEDs 23" above the bench top. The strip is a 5050 on 0.65" spacing (300 LEDs per 5m). They are powered at 12v drawing 2.6A.
Thanks Everyone!
What a great day! The "Greater Nickel Plate" lives - - we have a DCC power pack and controller; DCC decoders for the engines; track; power cleaner for engine wheels; new Nickel Plate Society Magazines to read; a new Nickel Plate T-Shirt for my birthday (Thank you, Peggy); and an assortment of other goodies I needed to work on the railroad.
JL&T Railroad Blog - Plaster/Drywall Backdrop...
Hi All,
Well decided to do some more backdrop over the last couple of days. This section incorporated a few challenging sections, namely some fairly tight corners and track work penetrations through the actual backdrop.
Once again I have been using the 6mm flexiboard plaster/drywall for the curved sections. This board makes forming the radius extremely easy and the result are very good. These sections I have used 3mm plywood behind the 6mm plaster/drywall so that when butted up against the normal 10mm they will both be fairly flush.
Decoder Decisions
I need some advice on cutting through all the hype. Visiting the Timonium train show this weekend and am looking to purchase decoders for several locomotives. I, of course, want good pricing, but also want ease of installation; reliability; and compatibility. Your input would be appreciated.
The locomotives are:
Atlas S-4 (no sound required) - older DC unit (2 ea.)
Proto 2000 SW-9 (no sound required)
