Rivarossi 0-8-0

I have acquired a 40 year old rivarossi 0-8-0 loco which is in perfect condition except for part of the motor.

The casing which goes around the cogs which lead to the drive shaft has eroded and is breaking up, in fact a piece has broken away. As I live in the UK, parts are extremely hard to come by.

So any suggestions on how I may repair this item would be greatly appreciated

Upper Valance - Part I

Well, it isn't sexy and it sure isn't fine modeling but hey, first things first. My upper fascia installation progress thus far. With a little drywall mud, a coat of paint, and some suspended ceiling tiles in place I think it is going to work out swell. Amazing how rigid 1/8" hardboard can become when formed into curves and screwed in place.

Tallulah Falls Railroad - Future Plans

This Blog is the natural continuation of the concluded one on the construction of a kitbashed TF RR #78 2-8-0, at http://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/blog/19425  .

At the conclusion of the kitbash project I had done enough investigation to decide I will revise my previous layout plans and model the TF RR, with my big Southern equipment operating at the Cornelia Junction and beyond.  This is a natural extension of my plans, which I will draw up to show soon.

SWE - World War 2 Home Front in HO

... And now for some low quality (taken by phone) photos of the layout. They'll be replaced with better quality photos when I get a chance. The looked so much better on the phone than they do on the computer.

I'm in the process of setting up a web-page (exploring google sites, just out of curiosity), but will cross-post here if there is interest (and I'm capable)....

[update: Okay, low quality photos have been replaced with... Well, I suppose, mid-grade quality photos taken with a real camera.]

Walthers Ore Dock repair_Plastic part replicated with brass etching

The club has a Walthers ore dock that will be used in the new layout expansion. It had a broken bracket that supports one of the ore chutes. I decided to replicate the plastic part with a brass etching. I used my new Nikon D5000 to shoot the video. It came out blurry in some shots due to low light but you can see the process I used.
