Thanks Everyone!
What a great day! The "Greater Nickel Plate" lives - - we have a DCC power pack and controller; DCC decoders for the engines; track; power cleaner for engine wheels; new Nickel Plate Society Magazines to read; a new Nickel Plate T-Shirt for my birthday (Thank you, Peggy); and an assortment of other goodies I needed to work on the railroad.
This is why I like this web site so much. . . . good information led to good choices at the Timonium, MD Train Show received from several blogs I posted. Your answers got me the right stuff AND SAVED ME $$$$!!! i got a great deal on an NCE system (saving over $200); decoders for all my switch engines and helpful instructions to complete my tracklaying and wiring efforts.
I even saved enough for a small libation or two - - if you're in the Carlisle, PA area, drop me a line; see the railroad and enjoy a wee bit o' the nectar. . . LOL!

Whoop de do ! Congratulations
So was this via a birthday? My sister threw a birthday party for me two months ago with 24 people, including myself, in attendance. It was a train oriented party. Decorations included Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends (my sister's humor). I was bombarded with many gifts, including an illustrated book on the UP in SoCal, 100 years history. A new UP bay window caboose from Athearn (includes add-them-yourself screen window covers), engineer's cap (more of my sister's humor), 4-chime wooden "steam whistle", a gift certificate to one of my LHS (Milepost38) - the latter providing me funds for paint, cement and tools I wanted and a team track freight ramp kit.
It is so nice when friends and relatives appreciate your hobby.
Yeah, I love those train shows - wish there were more of them in SoCal.
