More open house photos from second night
The second night of open house was also well attended, but rather than a mad dash, people had more time to visit and ask questions, and they asked a lot of questions about the hobby and what not!
The narrow gauge was the only layout in operation on the second night.
What I learned this month - December, 2016 - Calipers for Modeling
I've purchased several calipers over the years, with the most recent (and highest end) set arriving this week. That got me to thinking about their relative strengths for my uses and decided to share some thoughts with this community.
In the photo below are the four calipers I currently own - all have a 6 inch / 150mm range. From left to right, are:

MTM: Rob Clark, a wee bit of murica in the UK
Earlier this year I started seeing the posts of this cat from the UK, except he models the USA. How peculiar I thought to myself. So I introduced myself and asked him to have a chat with me.

Toys for tots. Splitrock Mining helps out USMC Reserves in toy drive.
The Splitrock Mining Company employees collected so many toys they needed to be weighed on the company scale. Please remember those less fortunate than us this Christmas. Give a new, unwrapped toy to the Marines.
Thank you to those that donate, and to my brothers and sisters who served in the Corps, Semper Fi.
Merry Christmas everyone.
