Freight car pictures
Hi everybody,
I'm starting to make a list of all of my locos and cars and I would like to have prototype informations about my models - pictures as an inspiration for weathering, etc.
Any recommendations which website(s) are good for that purpose?
Thanks!
Andy
Prototypical trailers for local routes? (HO)
Hi all,
I looking for suitable trailers to be used for transporting goods between a team track and local industries, late 60s era. I got a Mack H67 so far as tractor for this, and i am looking at the Walthers 35' fluted trailer and the Classic Metal Works 32' Aero-Van to combine with the said tractor. Would any of these be prototypical for the usage i am thinking? I got up to the point that i should stay below 40' trailer length given my era and local routes.
IAIS's West End - TTPX flat w/pulpwood rack
Next up on my workbench is a TTPX bulkhead flat I'm just kicking off, the prototype for which was in service hauling walnut logs from eastern Iowa to Midwest Walnut, a small mom & pop sawmill on the IAIS in Council Bluffs, IA. MW takes in walnut logs and ships out specialty dimensional walnut in containers, often for export, for use in such things as rifle stocks and furniture.
Steam locomotive descriptions
I was looking at a locomotive I'm considering to order. I note that it says the loco has a "Power Reverser" and has a "preserved condition-steel cab". Does anyone know what is meant by "preserved condition'?
Here it is in context:
"HO Scale - Steam Locomotive - H-6-g 4-6-0 (DC/SILENT): Canadian National (CNR) - Tilted Wafer - Preserved Condition - Steel cab, Power Reverser, Front-mounted bell, Horizontal pilot, Coal Tender - Small Headlight."
Railroading Books - Real and Model
Michael T. had a post about the Scenery book of his youth and the new found copy. I got to thinking about my books and thought I'd share them. I added the covers to Imgur and was going to share them, but thought it would be a major task with 174 of them! Instead, here is a single graphic with the thumbnails!
Identifying the year of Athearn and other HO scale trucks (autos, not railcar)
I'm having difficulty researching the specific year of these trucks made by Athearn.
This white one, I can't find any prototypes with this type of grill:
This blue one I think is a 1970 model:
And this one I have no idea:
EMD 48" Radiator Fan Drawings/Pictures
Reminder: The following discusses 1/29
..
I'm in the process of super detailing a USA Trains GP30. Well, not very fast as I've now been working on and off for over 5 years. Now that I'm back trying to push this off the work bench, I'm trying to find more prototype information.
Shot in the dark. I need some detail photos or drawings of EMD of 48" fans, particularly the flared fans so I can replace the factory crap ones.
Worse case, I can use Cannon & Co fans, but would rather start with drawings or decent photos to create a CAD model for 3D printing.
