Plans for 52ft FMC "Railbox" series boxcars requested.
Do any members have, or do any members know where I can locate plans for modern box cars such as the FMC 52ft "Railbox" cars?
I'm amazed that with all the modern locomotives available in G scale, there are none of the prolific Railbox prototypes. It grinds my flanges knowing there are ripoff models ( older cars with non prototypical new artwork) being run,so I want to make some myself.
New York Central railroad Falls Road as it appeared in the MID 1950's.
I am an older model railroader approaching retirement in 8 months.
I have been arm chairing for quite a few years. My last layout was in my teens
I grew up in North Tonawanda, NY but am currently living in Snohomish, WA.
Upon retirement I plan on building an accurate version of the New York Central railroad Falls Road as it appeared in the MID 1950's.
CSX at CLT?
Anybody know the history / rationale behind the CSX (?) intermodal yard in the middle of Charlotte NC airport? Struck me as odd to taxi over a yard lead to the terminal.
Prototype research with glassware
My good friend Tim S. recently came across a few glasses in a Flin Flon thrift shop bearing the logo of my main prototype interest, Hudson Bay Mining and Smelting.
He picked them up and mailed them out to me to add to my bar. I have a new favourite scotch glass:
USRA Freight Car Assignments resource
Years ago I bought a copy of the Railway and Locomotive Historical Society’s “Railroad History, No. 128,” Spring 1973 issue, that contains James E. Lane’s historic summary of USRA freight cars. The USRA freight cars have been noted in many hobby articles over the years. Some have featured prototype photos and references to Lane's 1973 article. But these are mostly out of print and often touch on only a portion of the USRA freight cars.
Prototype Operation versus Model Ralroad Layout Design
Good morning all,
One car, three reporting marks
I take the West Coast Express commuter train from my home in the 'burbs to downtown Vancouver on a daily basis. It offers a chance to catch up on reading, work, sleep but most importantly gives me an opportunity to railfan. Today we arrived at the downtown station with a bunch of grain cars parked on the adjacent yard track. One car in particular caught my eye, CN 385722, a PS4750 grain hopper built in November 1978. It has what looks like 3 sets of reporting marks: The current CNA (Canadian National), prior SR* (unknown); and an earlier KC* (maybe
I need a picture of D&H U33c 751-753
I am modeling the former EL U33c's that D&H HURRIEDLY repainted, by covering the maroon with blue and pattching out the heralds. I have many good shots of the locos, but none of the rear, so I don't know what was done there. I know the rear remained yellow, but, don't know if or what herald was applied. Can anybody help?
