A question about how to finish train room ceiling
I am getting ready to drywall the ceiling of my layout room. I was showing my wife my progress and that I was getting ready to put up the ceiling and she asked why I couldn't just leave it. I told her that the drywall would stop the dust from coming down through the floor above. She asked about painting the ceiling to seal it up. So my question is: If I sprayed all of the ceiling, would that seal it up enough to keep the dust level down? The walls of the layout room are drywalled and the concrete floor will be under foam padd
Floor running - new trend?
I've noticed that many people are running their rolling stock on the floor. I think most of us have done this when we got a train set for Christmas, etc. but after watching a number of youtube videos it seems that the trend is growing. Many of the "floor runners" (I just coined a phrase - he he he ) use the ballasted track made by KATO, etc. and have an instant layout.

I want to donate some equipment- your advice?
I have decided that I want to donate my HO rolling stock, Prodigy-Advance2 system and structure kits (maybe assembled ones too) to an interested group.... maybe a project w/ a Children's Hospital, youth group, etc? I am not up to ebaying it off and on my limited pension sending stuff overseas to servicemen isn't possible. I am in the San Francisco Bay Area and am hoping someone here will know of a contact person for a group near me who could make good use of my equipment.
Manufacturer Critics (bashing). . .
I was on youtube.com yesterday looking at some really great MR videos of peoples home and club layouts. I happened across a video where the person was very critical (bashing) Athearn locomotives. The person stated that they will never ever purchase an Athearn loco again. He also stated that we should forward this video around.

What do we assume about Railroads?
I have a discussion topic for you all: Do we created assumptions about our prototypes to dictate various aspects of our model railroad? Is there another method? If you've made some, share them. For example, here is an excerpt from my website.

Extra detail on Eire caboose?
While doing research for my Catskill mountain layout, I came across this. Please read the second part!! Could be a great story behind an odd extra feature.

Micro Toggel switches.
I am new to the hobby and I have a partially completed layout and some used electric switches. I was going to buy some micro toggels to use with the switches but I do not know what amperage to buy. I located some .4 amp and some .5 amp. My power plant is .5 dc and .4 ac. Which toggels will work?
MR Operations Software packages
I wonder if any of you has any experience with the "Decapod" Model Railroad operating software programs. I am experimenting with such programs to find the one that best suits me and my meager layout. Currently, I am using the one included with the JMRI Decoder Pro. The JMRI one works pretty well for me, but I would like to be sure that I have not failed to try any systems that may meet my requirements. Thank you all for any and all assistance.

QSI New Titan decoder family
QSI announced the new Titan line. <== follow me to QSI...
Stereo speaker output, high amp, many new features. Can incorporate the LENZ power module, 10 light outputs (4 front, 6 rear), remote volume control, deolectable bell, 64 channels. Will also have sound only decoders. Seems that all the OEM manufacturers that used QSI decoders may not jump on the band wagon thow.
The Q1a, Q2 will fade into the sunset.
