Proto 2000 factory railings and grab irons glued?

I have a Proto 2000 tan-box era (maybe '97) GP-18 that I am considering repainting. Does anyone know if the railings and grab irons were glued in or just press fitted? I am guessing they are just held in by friction but was hoping to benefit from someone else's experience before I try yanking on them.

Oooooh its Friday...time to start up this weeks photo thread!

TTX Yellow

I am looking for a good match for TTX yellow. I read that the PollyScale was a little too dull to match it well. Microscale has a handy Floquil cross reference but again, their TTX yellow looks too pale. I am wondering if Model Master Insignia Yellow or Chrome Yellow would be a better match. Has anyone experience with TTX yellow, other than the old Floquil or Polly Scale offerings?

New Cover paper at Kalmbach

For the first time in my life I held a new Model Railroader magazine and the ink on the back and front cover did not come off on my hands. Kudos to Kalmbach for the paper upgrade!

Action cam?

I got an ad from B&H photo for  a Sony action cam (video camera) that seemed like it might be good for on-track model railroad videography.

Has anyone used one of these?

How did it work out?

Cheers,

wire connectors

What kind of wire disconnects can be used with AWG 22 brass wire for a lift out section ?

All Men?

The recent discussion about getting mocked for being a model railroader reminded me of a question my wife asked about our hobby that I had no answer for. I thought about posting it then, and totally forgot, so here we go before I forget again.

Diaphragms

Is there such a thing as a good diaphragm?  I have just finished painting a pair of Cary E7 shells and they would look much better with diaphragms filling the void between the A & B units.  I have tried several different manufacturers diaphragms over the years without any success.  I have several Proto 2000 E7s,8s &9s that I have had to remove the diaphragms to prevent problems.  I also tried them on my Daylight passenger cars and had to remove them.

N Scale Canopy

Has anyone made canopies for buildings in n scale. The ones that used to shade the sidewalks on older buildings
