Tour D' Chooch

Every year for the past 20 years a group of modelers in northeastern, Mass and southern NH organize a self guided tour the weekend after Thanksgiving. This year  we visited several  layouts on Sunday including Tim Garner's PRR; Scott Jewel's Docks and Rocks' ;James VanBokkelen's B & M and the Wenham museum.

HO scale stop-motion

Hey all,

Just been experimenting with some vehicle weathering and instead of posting a photo I thought I'd post a short movie of the results.

Its a little different to what I usually post, which are how-to videos but I hope you will get a good laugh out of this short comedy.

Tourist Excursion Train from Peru

I was recently in Peru on vacation and took a number of photos of the Peruvian Rail Road as it intersected my travels.  Highlight of the trip was the "vista dome" train from Cuzco to Machu Picchu and back again. These special excusion trains have terrific views, comfortable seating and cabin service.  The scenery is quite spectacular. Our Vista Dome train to Machu Picchu

White River Southern?

I was just reminiscing about a few modelers that I haven't seen posts from in a while. One of those modelers is Tyler Trahan. I really liked his White River Southern and I know he was building a new layout, I think it was the Central Massachusetts RR. The link to the Central Mass is no longer active, but the WRS webpage is still functional. Does anyone know if Tyler has quit the hobby for good or what his situation has changed to? He had posted some great pics and videos of the WRS when he was active.

Australian Narrow Gauge Convention

Has anyone any experiences with travelling to/staying in Bowral, NSW? I am still trying to decide whether to attend this event:

Tom Miller's property was for sale..

I saw on YouTube, Tom Miller's property was on the market.
Just wondering, was it sold and if so, was it bought by someone within our realm of interest?

Why? (That's really none of my business, but I can't wondering after all that effort.. I hope it wasn't due to health issues.. Us old MRR's gotta look out for each other..

Paint styrene to look like wood

I have some flatcars that are factory painted red. What I would like to do is paint and weather the top boards to look weathered gray.

I have some scrap styrene that I painted red and I have experimented with a few techniques by re-painting the styrene a tan color and then using a mixture of Indian Ink to stain it gray. This has produced some OK results.

I thought I would ask for some other techniques/methods. Any pictures to share?
