Polishing rail

I’m getting to a point with my hand laid track where I need to clean off the tops of the Micro Engineering weathered rail. I’ve read about different methods for getting the best electrical contact and one that I’d like to try is polishing the rail tops super smooth. Not only does this look very prototypical but according to my friend, Mark Roach, it almost eliminates track cleaning (or applying clipper oil, graphite, etc.).

Below are a couple before and after shots of Mark’s technique (photos courtesy of Mark Roach):

Ken Ehler's Pandora and San Miguel

Last Weekend the NMRA Indian Nations Division had our 8th Annual Kayout Design and Operations Meeting. Part of the weekend is operating some of the beautiful layouts we are privieledged to have In and Around Tulsa.

On Sunday I operated on Ken Elhers Pandora and San Miguel Sn3 RGS layout. This layout is not only a beautiful work of art but also fun to operate. I was the Ridgeview operator which starts off operating Pass #7 from Rico to Ridgeview and the wors as the local operator there.

Following are som pix I took with my iPhone.

Korea Broadway Limited E6A&B Chassis Shells

Hello

I have been looking for shells for a set of Broadway Limited Korean made E-6 A&B units that were given to me. They were sold as chassis only and that is how the original boxes I have are set up.

I haven't found a set of Broadway shells for them. Is there another shell (e.g. Proto 2000) that might be easily  retrofitted to these chassis? And, if so any information on how to do it?

Thanks for any assistance provided

Tsunami 2 already does what Loksound full throttle does

I sometimes get mildly irritated with what often appears to me to be fawning praise of Loksound's full throttle decoders. One person says they are great and a bunch then pile in. Some people may be cowed with the praise and feel they have to agree. They may be very good decoders, and I have heard, watched and run a few examples, but they are not the only show in town.

C&O 120 Ton Crane

I recently purchased and built the Tichy 120 Ton Crane and would like to know if anyone knows the paint schemes that were used on the C&O during the 1950's.  I believe they were W-8 etc.  I can't find any color pictures even on the C&O Historical Society site.  Were they black, blue, did they use yellow on the boom tip and hooks, etc.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Making a curved roof? Looking for ideas, suggestions?

I'm in need of some modeling advice. I'm in the middle of a huge, multi-year scratch build in 1/29 scale, and now I'm stumped on how to create a continuous curved radius roof for this project. Link to build thread is here

Our Latest video - Update #11 How-To Start a River Scene & bridge supports

I thought some might enjoy our latest video

In this video we start our river scene and take care of bridge supports in an effort to move forward to the "real scenery" on the Mountain side of the layout.

In our "Sidetracked" segment, we take a look at the model railroad YouTube channel of Chris Broughton.

Enjoy! Joey Ricard
