One-to-one scale in Winter Garden, FL

I live about 15 minutes away from the quaint downtown area of Winter Garden, Florida.  There are many cool things about the town, but what I really like is that there are TWO railroad stations open to the public (one of them is a museum) and TWO cabooses!

This Family Lines (L&N!) sits behind the museum.

And this Chessie sits in front of the welcome center.

Michael & Mrs. Rose visit the Richlawn Railroad!

It's always a pleasure to get together with our good friends the Roses!  Yesterday they visited us at our home to enjoy a ham that I smoked along with mashed potatoes, gravy, peas, and chocolate cake with butter cream icing.  We forgot to take a picture of the ham as it came out of the smoker for some reason (grin); however, it looked and tasted wonderful.  As usual I had non-alcholic beer (German, of course!) on hand which you see in Michael's hand.

Caboose (Hobbies) grand re-opening

Pleased to report back on the grand reopening of Caboose Hobbies, now known as simply Caboose.

For any of you who are familiar with the old location, the new location DEFINITELY has solved the parking issue! The building also feels much more well laid out and better lit than the old location. Plus, two easy to find bathrooms compared to just the one in the old location.

Rustoleum Painters Touch 2X question

Question about this spray paint. I have used it many times in the past, for plastic structures mostly, with no problems. It is a plastic compatible paint.Last week I sprayed a larger sheet, about 18"x36", of raw, white styrene sheet with a blue color and let it cure for an entire week. I did basic prep work, sanded and washed, let dry thoroughly. No primer. It covered fine with no issues. Today I sprayed a gloss clear over it,same brand, and the blue crazed in many places. Any idea what I may have done wrong or could it have been a product issue?

Why Faller Expert cement?

In the February, 2017 issue of MRH, Bruce Petrarca tells about using some LEDs I've never seen before (an LED mounted to a light rod available at Streamlined Backshop).  They could be the answer to an engine lighting problem that I've been working on.

In the article, Bruce says that he pushed the light rod all the way thru the shell and cut off the excess.  Then he sanded the end and used Faller Expert cement which "brought the optical surface back to top condition."

What happened to Jerry Glow Decals?

Does anyone know why Jerry Glow stopped selling decals?  He had some Charleston & Western Carolina decals that I wanted but disappeared before I could purchase.

Starting children on Model RR; When and how?

I am an American living in Germany, and I have two children that will be 3 in April. A boy and a girl.

Both show an interest trains; The boy more so. For now, they have a bunch of hand me down Brio type stuff, and enjoy building tunnels and stations from blocks.

Anyways, I was wondering what everyone's thoughts and experiences were in regards to taking the next step..

First, when to start them on "scale" trains and what type if set to get? I have a few ideas.
