Modeling general discussion

Just got my Scaletrains ET44AC locomotives today
SIKE! Yo I am sorry, I am kidding. The truth is I went to pay for 5 locomotives ($974.00) this morning but when I clicked the link and clicked to pay for my pre-order it said that my cart was empty! I was not mad or over reactive like some people, no. I just sent an email and said I had a problem paying for my pre-order. But then I got an email response that read ...
Thank you for your e-mail. The following answers many of the questions we receive.
Log - Its Big, Its Heavy, Its Wood - How to model ?
I am contemplating building a small logging railroad. What is available to model the cut logs ? I see plenty on articles on how to build tress. But how do you model them once they are cut down ?

Need some help with E-Bay Listing from anyone OUTSIDE the US
I'm not doing this to advertise anything for sale, but since I live in the US I don't know if any of my listings are showing up internationally, since I have a bunch of European models that most likely will have a better chance to sell over there than here. To that end I have tried listing this item:
"Electrotren - Coal Gondola/Hopper - Antracitas De Ponferrada S.L"
The difference between model and prototype switching.
Looking over Dee's nice railroad and how he switched his industries I just remembered something I learned when training new conductor/engineers over the years using a small model railroad. As part of a "final" exam I would set up a short train of cars and ask the students to work together to switch a few industries put an outbound train together and take it to an interchange.

Trains & Cycling
I've noticed a few posts from those who seem to enjoy cycling and trains. Having returned from the regular group ride with the "boys" I wondered how many of us share this passion as well.
As an introduction, I commute to work on my bicycle a distance of 17 miles 3-4 times a week. My rides are recorded on a site called Strava where friends share their rides in a community forum not unlike MRH.

Flooded Models
The recent damages caused by hurricane Harvey affected our model railroad club equipment. The Southeast Texas Model Railroad club is normally housed at Grace Lutheran Church in Orange, TX. The church was flooded by almost 12 inches of water. The layout modules that were set up on their legs, and other modules that were on tables were not damaged.
Flat Haze paint?
Has anyone ever used Rapido's Proto-Paint Flat Haze?
And what would this be used for? To create a faded look or is it an actual colour?

SP Commuter Cars
Does anyone know of a model that was/is produced of these passenger cars shown below.

Another hobby shop closes
A hobby shop I used to visit after going to a train show in Hamburg, New York has closed it's doors. Sad to see it go. BTW anybody have $85,000 for the caboose that sits in front of the store?
