Modeling general discussion

Just installed my first turntable
Never had a turntable before. I've been working on my extension room layout.
This room is modeled after the UP Turntable, Rail Shop. Depot Station. In Cheyenne, WY
Its the Walthers 130' DCC Turntable.

So you don't have a lathe?
I've wanted a lathe for years. I'm a member of a model engineering mailing list, I love reading about machining on the web, I have a few books on the subject, I've even thought about building my own lathe from homemade castings. The only problem is I have neither the space nor real need for a lathe. I'd use it from time to time, of course, but it the grand scheme of things it's hard to justify even a small hobby lathe. Somehow, I doubt I'm alone.
help with replacement coupler
can anyone identify this coupler?
I have about 20 old Bachman cars that have this coupler. I want to change them to knuckle type. I bought some Kadee #148's. they fit but the hole is much larger then the original hole. I'm thinking of just drilling the hole larger and using a bigger screw. Does anyone know if there is a direct replacement for this? I looked at the kadee web site but couldn't identify this coupler/car combo.
I guess it make a good "How to" tip, lol.
A Prototype for Everything - The Great Western Industrial Park
They say there is a prototype for everything. Here is another at The Great Western Industrial Park (http://www.greatwesternindustrialpark.com/index.html). It is a simple oval with a variety of industries, including a wind turbine blade plant.
If you zoom in with the satellite view, the 45deg view will pop up and you can see the track work in the construction phase. This could make for some interesting modeling.

Weekend Photo Fun Thread Count
Whoo hooo! (Not to be confused with Choo Choo). Both the viewer and post count surpassed MR this weekend in the Photo Fun Thread. All this in just 4 short weeks.
And of course my bias, but the MRH weekend photo thread is sooooo much better in quality. But I want to stress not every post in WPF needs to be an award winning photo. I'm proof of that. I would like to see progress photo's. How to Photo's and much much more.
Bachmann Repair issue...
Here is a quick synopsis of what is going on...
1) I have a Spectrum 2-6-6-2 DCC and sound. It was having problems with picking up power. It seems to only be getting power from the back truck of the tender.
2) Nice engine with great detail. I didn't really want to mess it up, so I sent it in for repair and a check for $25. I always liked they way Bachmann supports their products.
3) I got a call. They do not have the engine (I assume for a switch out), and they want to offer another type of replacement.

Question - UP train passenger schedules for 1941
What time of day did the City Los Angeles depart Chicago in 1941? Did it depart once per day, or more than once?
A writer contacted us and wants to get the times right for a book project.
Is there an "easy" way to .....
..... make a mirror copy of a fairly complex kit part?. Have a very old kit, manufacturer closed eons ago, that is missing just one piece, but I have the other one (an exact mirror image). If I REALLY have to, I can shape it from wood or plastic. Is there an easier way?. Jose.
MRH Calendar
In the WPF Joe made this post....
Should we consider an MRH calendar?
Should we consider an MRH calendar? How about a PDF calendar that you can print out yourself?
