Rail size
This week I was out rail fanning with my camera and the mainline for the Pan Am Railway is being upgraded to 136 lb rail right now. What code would this be say HO scale?
Still weird to see an airline loco on a loco or rolling stock.
It will be interesting to see the machinery for this upgrade. The rail is on either side of the main. Ribbon rail. Each section is 1/4 mile long and was stacked on a series of flat cars designed for this.
SP's Shasta Div FINALLY on DVD
Pentrex FINALLY released their SP Shasta Div on DVD. http://www.pentrex.com/shastadvd.html . I have been waiting over 2 years for it. I tried to see the VHS version but never could find one still in tact enough to watch. It's not the Siskiyou Line but it's close enough to fuel the SP in Northern California fever!

Passenger trains in the background--adding atmosphere
I had an idea for adding some life to a background. A lot of people like urban switching, and don’t touch passenger operations. But subways or commuter rail, or even streetcars, are a frequent part of the suburban and urban scene.

Starting up a model railroad club
Hello everyone of the forum.
After some time of internet searching I was only able to find one other site that had something of this topic, so anyway, here goes.
Starting up a model railroad club. I'm looking to do it. Also looking for the does and the don'ts of doing so.
A few close friends of mine have a general idea of what and how we want the club to run both through the railroad itself and some rules and regulations.
East TN modelers wanted
Looking for active modelers in the Sevierville area to help build the M&WV. Part of the layout is up and running (with test leads), however persons with advanced wiring skills would be particularly helpful. Please contact me through supplied info or here and we can make arrangements to get together.
Paint stripper recommendations, please?
Hi, Guys!
I recently acquired a Stewart RS-3 kit, and have been trying to remove the factory paint job so I can paint and decal it for the Flint Hills Northern. In my 55+ years of model railroading I have never come across a paint as tough to remove as this stuff. I started out with isopropyl alcohol - 2 days soaking - didn't touch it. Though I was leery of using it on this plastic, I next tried DOT3 brake fluid. After 14 hours of soaking, the lettering came off, and the base coat had softened slightly, but not enough to completely remove.
