Modeling general discussion

Weekly Photo Fun 6-17-17 to 6-24-17

Here we go! It's always fun to see what everybody has been up to.

I've been on a covered hopper jag for about two weeks now so here's a pic of the latest one.

As always, In progress photos are welcomed and encouraged...........post 'em if you got 'em!

Clips of some high-rollers in LA and a train on the Seattle coast.

I was at the Pershing Square Station on the Purple Line 8 pm June 2, 2017 (Los Angeles CA) High-rollers were delivering some cable reels to the extending line under construction. I started to video one that came by. The ‘Dyna-electric truck stopped as one of the clips holding one of the reels slipped out of its inset. I tried to show some of the hardware they were using. Thought someone might want to model some of this-

Always thought this would be a good idea.

A restaurant where they serve you drinks by train.  Great idea.  Found this on front of yahoo.

siskiyou - Water Cars!

Joe, Monday coming back to Sonoma from Port Townsend, I stopped for the night at the Travelodge, walked over a few blocks and had dinner at the  Roseburg Depot. Sat by the window and to my surprise there on the spur were two water cars! I looked down the siding, and there were two more! That was all the dessert I needed!

Incorporating a workbench into living space

All,

I'm looking for some ideas on how to incorporate a workbench into our living space so I can do some modeling while watching TV or whatever with the rest of the family upstairs. This wouldn't be my main workbench just something to do basic construction on. The main workbench will be in the basement with the paint booth and the layout.

I was thinking of a roll top desk, but certainly open to other ideas.Trying to avoid looking too much like a workbench and more like furniture.

Thanks,

Lou

HO Seeker site

Still cannot share links. Users getting Permission Denied.

I emailed the administrator three times and no response. About seven years ago I sent him scans and did a couple messages but nothing now. I just tried to share in another forum.

Anyone know if he is just protecting his site which I doubt or maybe it is a software issue.

I suppose I can get this train rolling this week :)

Here, a Pickens boxcar is among a cut of cars being pulled for classification..

Yosemite Valley Railroad layout video on YouTube...

Last month, a two-person crew from TSG Media videoed my layout in High-def. It was a long process…first spending a day shooting with three cameras under the room lights (which seem bright to us but not video cameras which results in much less depth of field) and then coming back a week later to reshoot most of the scenes with LED lights. They then came back after finishing most of the post-production for some additional voice-overs. But the results were worth all of the effort since they produced a real railfan view of my layout.

It has now been uploaded to YouTube at

My visit to Michael Rose 6-9-17

First, the important part - the yummy!  Peach cake!

Now, the question:  What to do with this building?  Michael said he doesn't want it and is thinking about just throwing it away.  He's going to make a new one with some modifications.

Removing loco windows

I would like to remove the windows and number boards on some locos for painting, but I always seem to break something when removing them. Any suggestions or advise for removal without breakage?

Thanks in advance.
