Modeling general discussion

Cascade Rail supply
Hello all, I put in an order to Cascade Rail supply, and can't get in touch with them to check on my order. Just wondering on there time to get an order out. I understand they have to make it. Has any one used there Homabed? God Bless Ya Dave Aarons
Looking for opinions on color for power transmission towers
This is about traditional power transmission towers. I need some recommendations for what is an appropriate paint color/mix that would be prototypical. Grey primer is far too white. (AV) If I was using modern transmission "towers", I could paint them a rust color, among others, as that is what the ones near me in Arizona are. But then again, I'm modeling Kansas.
Thanks in advance.

Inventory Software
I am on a cleaning/organizing kick. I just found a copy of Visual Train Caboodle from Alpine Software. Their website is very outdated but I am wondering if anyone has used this software and what their thoughts are. I have experience building databases, but would rather not reinvent the wheel. I also have played with Easy Model Railroad Inventory which is also out of production but still available via friend and all around good person Bill Brillinger... Thoughts and opinions?

Right or Wrong?
I am facing a dilemma. That is, I have two freight cars I am about to complete and they have no matching prototypes for them. As a prototype modeler, well sort of, I try hard to make sure all of my freight cars are a close representation of specific prototypes. This is a satisfying way of modeling that I really enjoy.

Weekly Photo Fun - Nov 17-23, 2019
It's another week . . . post 'em if you got 'em.

Silo layout
I just found this ad for a property outside Tuscon with a used silo. My idea is to run a layout around the walls of the silo, nolix style, where the layout is on a grade and by the time it gets all the way around the walls it's a deck higher.

Keep the lights on
I maintain a G gauge RR at two restaurant locations. I have a problem keeping the lights on in the passenger cars and cabooses (cabeeses?). Pickups are from the factory wipers or fed from the wheels to an axle terminal, I know clean track is a must but I still get flickering in the lighted cars. There is no problem with locomotive lights. These trains run anywhere from 12 to 14 hours or more per day 7 days a week. Between 20 and 30 years of operation these engines have finally given up the ghost, seven out of eight have died.
