One year ago to the day... A Horseshoe & Cottonwood Update
Well it has been one year since the narrow gauge Horseshoe & Cottonwood was started.
The sound of the train, not just the locomotive
I live on the old IC, now CN mainline. The tracks are about 100 yards east of my house. Yesterday my wife and I were working out in the yard when the Sunday local stopped to drop off some cars at the grain elevator just down the road. The air was filled with the usual sounds of a freight train and my wife asked about them. She said she had never paid attention before. So we listened as the brakes squealed and the slack ran in as the train stopped. There are a lot of sounds audible from a few hundred yards away (distance to the grain elevator) as the crew

Intermountain ES44AC - DCC wiring question
I pulled the Loksound decoder out of an Intermountain ES44AC a few months ago and I'm just now getting around to installing a replacement Tsunami IM1000. I believe the black wire from the rear light board was soldered to a pad at the rear of the Loksound, but the problem is, I don't recall what it was for, and i don't see it mentioned in the Tsunami installation instructions.

Working on the Railroad...Again
Hi first time posting here so I hope this works.
I've been working on an On30 railway that will be built as a series of modules and will be installed in a future train room/studio.
The projected mainline will have 2 through truss bridges, one is a foreground structure that will be scratch built from Evergreen Styrene and Special Shapes as well as other parts suppliers. It will be approximately 86 scale feet long and will be similar to the Silverton's truss bridge across the Animas River in Durango, CO.
COTS labels and appropriate year
Can anyone help me in determining if this caboose with the labels would be appropriate for 1974? Did these labels come out before or after ACI labels?
Round top/Wagon top boxcars
I realise these were a B&O design but I have three questions about them:
1. Were they used by any other roads?
2. When did they disappear?
3. Were they only 40ft cars?
Thanks!

Mesh size for static grass applicator
I need to know what size mesh is needed for applying larger static grass. Our modular group has an applicator, but it only has one screen which is only good for the smallest (2mm) static grass. I have been asked to fabricate a new applicator and need to know what size screen to obtain. I'm using plans from the March/April 2010 MRH.

CA Adhesive and Vinegar
I have a brass etched metal kit that I have assembled mostly with solder. I did use CA to put on some small details. I want to dunk it in vinegar before painting. Will the vinegar affect the CA joints?
