What's up With Caboose Hobbies

Does anyone in Denver know what's going on with Caboose Hobbies?

I got an e-mail from them announcing a "Transition Sale" because the landlord is selling the building. Are they moving?  Dropping the brick-and-mortar format?  What are they transitioning to?

I drove through Denver in April and didn't bother to stop at Caboose Hobbies.  Did I blow my final chance to visit train heaven?

Creative use of Legos

I was inspired by Tom Klimoski’s use of Lego parts for his operating overhead rolling door and was wondering if other modelers have used Legos in creative ways on their layouts. I don’t mean using Legos for scenic elements but rather for mechanisms, etc., similar to what Tom did. I know of some modelers who glue Lego bricks to square and reinforce corners on structures which is a great idea.

Riding the Train Up the East Helix from Ready Tracks East (staging) thru Union Station Yard

This is the second train ride using the Cube+ camera on the N-Scale ATSF Paradigm Division. Once again the camera is mounted on depressed center flat car but this time the camera is looking backward.  The train is led by a consist of Kato F7 ATSF freight (cigar band) engines (A-B-B-A) with non-sound decoders installed followed by a track cleaning car and then a depressed center flat car with the Polaroid Cube+ camera mounted looking backward.

Pointe St. Charles caboose question

I have been researching for the past week trying to find out when these air intakes first appeared on these CN steel cabooses. Seen under the numbering in this photo:

So far the earliest dated photo I could find is 1978.

Does anyone know of any CN cabooses that had these prior to 1978?

interchange and staging

I am in the midst of track planning a layout based on des Moines Iowa. At one time 10 railroads interchanged through a central yard located just off of downtown, Iowa Transfer. My main focus is the Des Moines Union, a 4 mile long railway owned by Wabash and Milwaukee Road jointly, but operated as a Class 1. DMU also interchanged with the various RR's while plying its varied line. I have a 12x12 'U' shaped area that will run around the walls.

A Little scenery makes a big difference

A little scenery makes a big difference.  One of the goals of this layout is to get a little scenery down at the same time I get the operation going.  All my previous layouts had the scenery wait while I focused on large swaths of benchwork and track.

I think the 30 minutes roughing in the tree line on the backdrop and the afternoon making the trees was well spent.

Here is the Wilmington area with the fascia under construction:
