How to Model Concrete Pavements (Sidewalks)
Continuing the series on how to model a tarmac road, we're adding the pavements or sidewalks.

My Second Layout: A Final Track Plan for Suggestions and Critique
Howdy y'all!
So, first off, thanks for all the input on my previous topic of "dense track vs. open look" I think I needed to hear a lot about keeping things simple. This will be my second serious attempt at a layout, but since I "arm chair" modeled all through high school and college, I think I have a tendency to want to bite off too much. I posted a rough draft of the following track plan as a comment on that thread. Here it is refined a bit. I'd love any input before construction begins next week:

TV picks some of the oddest props...
Watching an episode of the Syfy show Killjoys (which I can't really recommend) I've just witnessed an Iwata airbrush accessory I didn't know they made (TMTV hasn't shown us this one yet). Instead of paint coming out of the tip, seems you can equip it to emit a laser beam capable of cutting rock...

What is your hobby budget goal?
Just sitting here contemplating the amount of money and time I have been putting into the latest build of the yard for my FreemoN group. Most of the money has come from the group, so that is not a concern. The time has been a pleasure (even though it frustrates at time), but it has been taking up pretty much all of my hobby time. Not to say that I haven't diverted to working on other things while I let stuff congeal in my brain.

First Run...
At 11:00pm CDT on July 19, 2016, the N-scale Bonne Terre Railway's recently accquired GP35 completed a full circuit of the layout's twice-around (folded loop? / folded dogbone?) mainline loop. It's more a wooden spike moment than a gold one, for the track is currently laid out with Bachmann EZ track, which, because of its sectional nature, is too broad for the board in some places and too narrow in others, but it is a start progress!

DPM plug and Play Autos
I was looking at DPM's site to check price on a kit and looking at future announcements discovered that they will be offering autos set up for their plug and play system this fall.

Great news for those of us that like to set up our layouts for night scenes as well as daylight operation.

One Year, Holy Cow!
Tomorrow will be one year since I finished the basement. It's also one year since I started the benchwork. All the benchwork is finished in the 17' X 40' basement. The first town modeled, South Greensburg, has all the track laid and signals working and several of the structures are in place. Youngwood, the second town modeled, is the main yard on the layout. Most of the track and switches are in place but now wired yet.
I'm happy with my progress so far.

Scratchbuild grain elevator - Almost done
The grain elevator is almost finished. All it needs are some windows and a place on the layout.
Seams in 2" pink foam boards
I'm using 2" pink foam board on a new layout 4 - 2 X6 in an U shape. Question what to do with seams and also surface levels between modules, getting with in 1/16-1/32", what do you use to smooth out gaps between modules ? The foam has some irregularities front to back at the seams, do have level legs and carriage bolts between modules.
Thanks Zeke
