Never enough

Norm Abrams always said, "you can never have enough clamps." I would agree.  Especially when building spline roadbed.

Train Detection Circuit - stand alone

Looking for current options for a Train / Car detection circuit.

Not sure where to start

I've inherited a WWII vintage HO collection of trains, some more modern farm and restaurant buildings and a large factory (18 inches by 6 inches by 12 inches (tall) factory.  I've learned how to wire lights, but am at a loss as to what to build... I dont have a favorite era/location/subject..

Thanks

Lift Out Section Wiring

Hi gang. I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I'm helping a friend with the electrical aspects of a lift out section at the doorway to his layout room. He needs to have stopping blocks on each side of the doorway so trains can't drop into the abyss. What I would like to set up for him is a relay on each side of the doorway that will be actuated by a limit switch. The limit switch will be actuated by placing the lift out section into position. The relay normally open contacts will close and power the stopping blocks.

New soft roadbed material?

Hi Fellow Train Nuts,

While killing time looking for inspiration at a Home Depot in the laminate flooring dept., I came across some interesting underlayment. It is made by a company in the USA called PALZIV in Louisburg, NC. The product is called ECO Cork Foam underlayment.  http://ecfunderlayment.com

It is a soft foam material, has a six mil moisture vapor barrier attached which I hope can be removed easily. I was wondering if anyone had used this material under their cork or foam roadbed.

36" x 25', in Canada costs about $70 CDN.

Loads to metal manufacturing plant

A company that manufactures metal goods, e.g., nuts and bolts, washers, screws, etc.  Besides steel coils and cardboard boxes (for shipping), what kind of loads would this kind of company receive by rail?

Peoria & Pekin Union RY #200

Hello,

My next project of unique / early streamlined diesel locomtives in 1/29 scale is Peoria & Pekin Union RR #200.

Built by Davenport in 1938 it houses four diesel-engines, two under each hood. This added up to 760hp in total. The unit lasted until 1968.

Who made this HO model

I would like to know what manufacturer made the following model. It is a HO scale model of a Pacific Fruit Express reefer (about 54' scale feet long, low height, pullman green, body mounted couplers). The distinctive feature is the ways the trucks are mounted on the body. There is a 3/16" diameter pin on the truck (it looks sort of like a Commenwealth truck). This pin is about the same height and width. The pin sticks in a hole in the bottom of the car and is held in place with a screw.

AUX2 pad on Loksound Select Micro?

Happy New Year everyone!

I have a used Loksound Select Micro I received in trade from a friend with no documentation (photo below).  I'm trying to wire ditch lights, but the layout of the solder pads doesn't match what I see in the Micro diagram on page 11 of the Select users manual.

Looking at the 5 solder pads along the edges near the end where the wires are attached in the photo below (3 on the left, 2 on the right), would someone please tell me which pad is AUX2 (commonly mapped to F6) on this decoder?

Starting out
