How to Model Peeling Paint
This week is peeling paint, a technique is so easy to do on older buildings. This one is for buildings made from wood.

Improving Brawa Nr. 5504 ring light lamps
I really like the ring light lamps for German stations that have not had their lighting upgraded to modern lamps, so I decided a couple years ago that Emsingen station will get ring lights.

Google 3D as a modeling aid
(I just posted this same video link in another thread but thought it might deserve it’s own thread.)
It’s amazing how much modeling information can be gleaned from the low resolution Google 3D viewer. I took some screen video of the Beaumont, TX, Gerdau steel plant (see below). Check out how much structural and scenic information is available including all the variations of color. Very cool.
Note: enlarge the video as much as possible on your screen for greater appreciation of what Google 3D can capture as a modeling aid.

Mobile Hot Metal Mixing car
I have always wanted to build a dual track mobile hot metal mixing car ever since I seen pictures of the model that Peachcreek shops has. I was also able to find patent plans for this car online. It may not follow the plans 100% but I built it for the area I have for the car. I'm waiting on a break in the weather to paint the car.

Quinching car
#d Printed quenching car that is available on Shapeways. I really like this little locomotive and with just a little detailing it make a good looking static model.

Material transfer cars.
I been wanting to build a couple of these cars since I seen the car Dean Freytag built. These was build from 2 ore cars with one end cut off and a new frame and body built for the cars. These was build for 3 axle trucks and at the time of the picture I was putting on the last details of the cars before sending them back to the paint shop.

Modeling TV antennas, modeling trash ...
To All, I have recently begun building a series of buildings that need some details. First, I need a source or way to make 50's and 60's era TV antennas. I have hand tremors so an etched metal kit is best as I can get some help with the assembly. Any suggestions are appreciated. Also, any tips on making very fine paper trash would be helpful. This is all HO scale. Thanks in advance for your thoughts. KodachromeJohn
Installing a keep alive in an MRC 1730
Has anyone installed a keep alive in an MRC 1730 which is in an Athearn CF7 ? Looking for hookup points for the two wires. I like the MRC but it drops out at times going thru my Fast Track turnouts at low speeds and I have a switching layout. Thanks in advance. Zeke
Question: Amtrak #6 eastbound at Truckee, CA
Hello,
I have watched the eastbound California Zephyr (Amtrak #6) a few times on the Truckee webcam:
http://tahoetopia.com/webcam/downtown-truckee
It is always the same procedure: The trains pulls into Truckee station and the crossing gates in direction of the train at Bridge Str. close. A few minutes later the gates open while the train is still loading and unloading. That I do understand.
