Decoder recommendation for OLD Proto 2000 SD(

I'm think of converting my old Life Like Proto 2000 SD9s to DCC with sound. Is there a PNP decoder to fit? I'm thinking Econami because of the cost but am open to suggestions.

MRC Prodigy Express

My MRC Prodigy Express appears to have stopped working.

It was running fine this morning but, this afternoon I went downstairs to run some more trains and nothing!

Symptoms: Locomotive does not respond to any commands. The sound on sound equipped engines work (a steady idle) but none functions (lights, bell, horn) respond to commands. The control unit lights up and appears to be working.

Troubleshooting efforts:

1. Tried different engines, both sound equipped and non-sound. None of them work.

My first module - Finally the trees

The last step, was adding the trees.

I used Woodland Scenics ready made trees at the back with an additional dusting of their ground cover product.

The foreground trees are a mix of fantastic Canyon Creek trees and small trees formed out of Woodland Scenics Fine leaf Foliage.

New age for permanent magnet to uncouple Kadee and clone couplers

These are like seasons, many topic speak about uncoupler and how to do it; I already published some months ago a topic after this clever use of permanent magnet;

Because of the coming back of such discussion I bring back the topic.

A few years  ago, a good friend of me, was in the way to install permanent  Kadee Magnet uncoupler on his layout.

He made a mistake when putting one in place, but this mistake was in fact like an "EUREKA".

Middle School Model Railroad: first op session of the school year

Things have been moving along smartly and we’ve got enough sections up and operational to run a switch job in the town of Park.

Wheelset Construction Questions

I searched for a previous posting and couldn't not find one so if this is a double somehow I apologize.

 Hi

I just got an atlas dash8 and the seller noted that it had a loksound decoder installed by Bradley, No paper work on the decoder so I was wondering if anyone knows anything about this Bradley installer?

Thanks Chet

30 years in the hobby

I've been back in the hobby for the last 30 years, and have struggled with it most of the time, mostly due to available funds. So I've had to settle for things that might not be quite right. ie: matchbox & hot wheels, (roughly .94$ instead of those that are to scale at say $14.00. Will I ever see DCC? From the prices I've seen probably not. My preference if I could ever afford it, would be Rail-pro. It just appears to be a whole lot easier, to get started than fooling around with cv's, but that's just my opinion.

In Defense of Car Kits - Give 'Em Some Weathering and They're Fine

If I lived in a perfect world, my freight car fleet would be nothing but the good stuff. You know what I'm talking about. Factory assembled Intermountain, Kadee, Bowser, Titchy Train Group, you get the drift. But alas, I don't. And on top of that, (1) I'm a College Student, and (2) budget. So that leaves me with good old Blue Box, Accurail, and Roundhouse cars. But wait, you can't disguise all that molded on detail under weathering!
