Color suggestion: Texaco green?

Does anyone have a suggestion on which green would work for the green trim on an older Texaco gas station? Thanks.

Canadian National Custom Rolling Stock

Modeling a Canadian regional railway means a lot of connecting traffic from Canada's two major railways, Canadian Pacific and Canadian National.

This thread illustrates several examples of CN rolling stock, mostly custom paint jobs and some kit-bashes for service on my model railway.

More Scenery Work

I got some more scenery work done last week. I also finally fixed the signal. You can read it below or here. I also hit the one year mark on my blog, North Country Trains, and you can read about that and see some more photos here.

Yard Scenery May NOT Be Working Out...

I've started scenicking Casper yard.

It may not be working out very well...

After getting all the track laid in the classification area, I painted the track. That seemed to go ok for the most part:

So now it's time to work on the spaces between the tracks.

Australian train wreck

There was a rather huge train wreck in Australia yesterday. It seems the train stopped to check one of the wagons and the train left of its own accord. 268 wagons of iron  ore reached about 65 MPH before being derailed at a switch. Google Australian Train Wreck. I figure that Milt Spanton and SplitRock at least would be interested.

Cyclone Vents

Turns out there are a lot of varieties of cyclone vents. What I am after are the roof top kind that spin with the wind and pull hot air out of buildings.

2 questions: when did they 1st come into use?

and who makes the model variety suitable for HO scale?

SSltd makes one for $6.99, anybody else make some?

thanks, Jack

Issue with a Penn Line dummy b-unit

A while back I purchased an antique Penn Line F-7 b-unit. As I usually body mount my kadee's  without any issues. I figured there shouldn't be an issue. Enclosed the fuel tank as both ends were open cleaned up the frame and painted it flat black. Drilled & tapped the holes for 2-56 hex fittings, clipped the trucks back into place and went to check the height, it doesn't even come close to where it's supposed to be (It's way to high). The bottom of the coupler lines up with the bottom of the door sill on an Athearn b-unit.

What company had these made there?

How old are these HO Freight cars as it pertains to when they were irst made there and when the last ones were made?

Thank you,

There was a runaway train in AU carrying iron ore...  remotely derailed and it tore up about a mile of track.
