Turnout control Options for local and remote control

I am looking to finalize how I want to control my turnouts in my layout.  And as such I am looking for advise.

i will have three ways of controlling turnouts.

1) local turnout, manual control

2) local turnout, electric motor control (these are often in locations that I don’t want folks trying to reach into such as close to a coal tipple.)

Bush, Shrub, and Undergrowth Discussion and Techniques

Hi everyone,

I am interested in modeling realistic shrubs and bushes of different varieties and sizes at a high level. I use static grass and sage supertrees and am very happy with the results. I tried lichen for shrubs and it seemed out of place with these higher quality trees and grass. I have used some supertrees for larger shrubs but wanted variety.

What techniques do you use?

My first module - Time for some trees

Time for greenery, starting with low shrubs.

Here is a detail view of the cutting over the tunnel.

And an overall view.

DCC Sound System Question

Folks,

I have a question regarding the different types of DCC sound systems out there.  I know there's Lok Sound, and Tsunami, and others, but I'm buried trying to make sense out of this.

Need help identifying some detail on a grain elevator

This isnt a real good photo and its hard to make out the detail in question, but in the upper section of the structure,in the dark squares there are some large openings next to the windows. Anybody have any Idea what these are or what they were used for?

Digikeijs DCC

Hi All, Anyone using the Digikeijs system? I need a new DCC system for my S layout and the price seems right. I don't have internet access in my layout building so that might be a problem? Does anyone use the Digikeijs system stand alone? Can it be set up and controlled by an Ipad? .....DaveB

HOn3 4-6-0 build

I had some leftover drivers and a junk boiler from a MDC HOn3 2-8-0, so I decided to build them up into a 4-6-0.  First I designed and printed a chassis through Shapeways and test fit the boiler:

A new addition to the roster from Canada courtesy of Rob Arsenault.

It's a beauty. Enjoy.
