Short circuit in crossing
Hi,
I am installing a brand new atlas 90 degree crossing on my layout. When I powered up the track, I found there was a short circuit somewhere. After some troubleshooting, I found that the crossing is causing the short. Further troubleshooting with my ohm meter indicated that every rail, is electrically connected to every other rail. ( I took the crossing off the railroad, onto my desk) So every piece of metal track on that crossing is 0 ohms to every other piece. This has got to be defective right? Wondering if anyone else has come across this before.
Thanks

Spray Booth - DIY Build
I'm starting to think about purchasing a spray booth so I can get started on modelling structures. I want something that is durable, has sufficient CFM, vented outside, downdraft, and large enough for some of the bigger structure work I will do on the railroad. I would like it to be able to handle enamel paints as well as acrylic and still be safe for indoor basement use. I've thought about building one - I think I have the skill to do that - but I'm not sure I have the energy to put into another custom build (on top of other things I'm working on).

Public modular displays in the Toledo Union Terminal - October 22-24, 2021
There will be HO scale (Free-mo / Speed-Mo) and G scale modular layouts set up in the Terminal building on this weekend. These layouts are set up in conjunction with the NMRA convention that is occurring on the same weekend. However, since these layouts are not part of the convention, there is no admission charge or fee to visit.
Southern Pacific Coal Cars
I'm looking for information about what type or types of cars the Southern Pacific was using to carry coal on its Rio Grande Division between Tucumcari, NM. and Douglas, Az. during the late 1940's. I have Tony Thompson's books covering SP freight cars but nothing states, specifically, what cars were used. Conversely, articles about hauling coal say very little about the equipment used. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
PROTO GP 9

Sawmill piping source
I recently purchased the Walther's Saw Mill Out Building kit(HO scale). I am looking for some HO scale piping to attach this to my pending mill construction project. Gotta be a way to get all those chips into trucks and chip cars. Any one have any ideas on where I can get some HO scale piping appropriate for a saw mill?
Thank you in advance for any help.
