Modeling topic
Continuing on the backdrop
Hello,
during the last two weeks I built the backdrop for the Lochdubh part of my layout. And here is the result.

Walthers Glacier Industrial Sand
Can anyone explain the purpose and/or the process the equipment in the kit is used for so it can be modeled properly? So what is the purpose of the Intake Hopper? Does the hopper that is part of the main Elevator for loading railcars just transfer "finished sand" into the concrete silos (that part seems logical but don't want to assume so still going to ask)? Also, according to the instructions this kit "...can be combined with other buildings to model a complete operation".
Southern Pacific's Jefferson Branch
This is the blog for my Southern Pacific's Jefferson Branch of Klamath Subdivision in Northern California. The Klamath Subdivision is proto-lanced line for my dream layout and the Jefferson Branch is a totally freelanced branch for the layout space I was able to get. This allows me to attempt to capture the flavor I want in the space I have...........

Custom artwork rubber stamp to letter cars?
I have about 100 ore cars that I bought lettered for inappropriate roads to the Missabe. I have painted over the sides. Faced with having to buy LOTS of decal sets, I am wondering whether one could create a custom art rubber stamp to letter most of the car.
The artwork would attempt to recreate this, less the number:

A Modest DCC Proposal to Limit Shorts (with Apologies to Johnathan Swift)
Hi All,
I remain troubled after reading an MRH article not too long ago (MRH RE Dec 2018: Ah-Hah Moment: Making decoders more short-resistant) about modifying a DCC decoder's printed circuit board (PCB) which paralleled a thin trace on the board with a much thicker wire. The trace connected the two independent wheel wires from the forward and rear trucks (diesel loco). The author pointed out that when run into turnout points set in the wrong direction, the trace would virtually vaporize, carrying the full current of the DCC base station or booster as provided to the track.

IAIS's West End - TTPX flat w/pulpwood rack
Next up on my workbench is a TTPX bulkhead flat I'm just kicking off, the prototype for which was in service hauling walnut logs from eastern Iowa to Midwest Walnut, a small mom & pop sawmill on the IAIS in Council Bluffs, IA. MW takes in walnut logs and ships out specialty dimensional walnut in containers, often for export, for use in such things as rifle stocks and furniture.
Bonus Extra download issues April 2013 and older
Bonus Extra download issues April 2013 and older. I can download the bonus extras form the current issues to May of 2013. But when I try to down load April 2013 or any thing older I get an error page not found. Any one else currently have this problem?
thanks

Steam locomotive descriptions
I was looking at a locomotive I'm considering to order. I note that it says the loco has a "Power Reverser" and has a "preserved condition-steel cab". Does anyone know what is meant by "preserved condition'?
Here it is in context:
"HO Scale - Steam Locomotive - H-6-g 4-6-0 (DC/SILENT): Canadian National (CNR) - Tilted Wafer - Preserved Condition - Steel cab, Power Reverser, Front-mounted bell, Horizontal pilot, Coal Tender - Small Headlight."

Layout Status Update and A Question
Well everybody, we've got a closing date on the new house, end of September. Start of the new layout is in sight! Finally!!!!!!!! Along with that vane, how do those of you that have large work benches w/multiple work areas organize said benches. I realized on the last layout progress was really slowed down by having to clear off the workbench everytime I wanted to shift between projects to help keep my interest up. It didn't help ethier that in the shuffle I would end losing parts for one project and get them mixed up with parts for another project.
