Backdrops , those of 2 to 3 feet tall

All,

Has anyone come up with a lightweight, thin, easy to cut and/or splice backdrop material that can be painted?

I was looking for something to bridge between the bench work on my upper level, 2 ft to 3 ft, to the ceiling tile. My first thought 1/8 inch hardboard. But I'm certainly open to more ideas that I have not considered.

Thanks!

Request Help Identifying This Tender Shell

I would appreciate assistance identifying this tender.  As you can see from the ruler, it is about 50' long.

It belonged to a C&O fan, but looks more like a Union Pacific or Southern Pacific model.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks.

Walther Front Runner tips for better running

Anyone been successful at getting these cars to run well ?

Ive added weight to the trailers and am experimenting with modifications to the truck under the hitch by removing the front screw and trimming some plastic away to allow some ability for the B end axle to swivel slightly

Tools of the Trade

One of the unfortunate challenges to modeling rural North America is the relative lack of items geared toward agriculture, especially for the modern era.  Grain and fertilizer are massive industries throughout the mid-section of the continent, but they are largely ignored or overlooked by manufacturers.  I'm modeling a freelanced HO scale shortline in Indiana which traverses a section of the former Nickel Plate dominated by agriculture.  For me, the feel of this region can't really be achieved without the inclusion of the hardware attendant to that industry.

Quilt Store: Newest Building on the layout

I had space in my town for one more business and couldn’t decide what to place there. I asked my wife if she would like to build a Quilt Shop. She thought it would be fun to do with me so the project began. I gave her the Walthers catalog and let her pick a building. The best fit for size on the layout an ability to display items in the shop for people to see, was the cornerstone Hobby Shop model (933-3475). It affords big windows for people to peer in the windows to see what the miniature shoppers are doing in the store.

Middle School Model Railroad: a tale of two tools

This is embarrassing, but having heard that confession is good for the soul I shall proceed.

Private Car Routing - Empty

How are private road cars handled when empty? I understand how railroad owned cars and pooled cars (RBOX, TTX, etc...) are handled.

I purchased an ORER thinking that would help but I'm still a little confused.

MEUKF on the Cascade Sub

Put together a video of the westbound daily manifest M-EUKF running from Eugene Staging to Wicopee on the lower level of the layout. A lot to learn about videography and editing, but starting somewhere! Enjoy!
